Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins to play with ones

Fri, 26 Aug 2016 10:12:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins will play with the first-team offense Friday, Aug. 26, in the third preseason game. Seferian-Jenkins says he's finally starting to figure out the mental aspect of the game and the need to be detail oriented and fundamentally sound at all times.

Fantasy Tip: ASJ has TE1 talent, but he hasn't avoided injury and has been inconsistent. He's a TE2 you can take late and have pay off in a big way.

Buccaneers | Donteea Dye in lead for fifth spot

Fri, 26 Aug 2016 10:00:53 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Donteea Dye is in the lead for the fifth receiver spot. Dye's ability to return kicks has stood out, but he needs to become a more consistent weapon in the receiving game.

Fantasy Tip: Dye and Kenny Bell seem to be battling for one spot, and both have speed. However, unless something happens to Adam Humphries or Russell Shepard, neither figures to have fantasy value as a fifth receiver.

Buccaneers | Roberto Aguayo continues to struggle

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 21:05:50 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Roberto Aguayo converted just three of his six field goal attempts during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, Aug. 23, which drew boos from some Bucs fans in attendance.

Fantasy Tip: Only Pittsburgh (42) attempted more field goals than the Bucs (40) last season, so theoretically Aguayo is stepping into a role with plenty of upside. Given his struggles this preseason, however, it's hard to advocate pulling the trigger on draft day.

Buccaneers | Roberto Aguayo is a bit rattled

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 18:52:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Roberto Aguayo said Monday, Aug. 22, that he has reached out to both a kicking coach and mental coach to help him with kicking woes that have plagued him this preseason. "I'm just focusing on relaxing and sometimes not thinking about it too much," Aguayo said. "When you're overthinking like, 'OK, I have to do this and this and this,' you get too many thoughts in your head. Sometimes you have to sit back and relax and just kick it."

Fantasy Tip: The Buccaneers traded up for the former Florida State standout, and there will be growing pains with rookies. He has the potential to be a steady Fantasy kicker for years to come if he can shake off his confidence woes. For now, avoid him for fantasy purposes.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate drops a couple

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 19:22:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate dropped a pass that led to an interception and dropped another pass that would have been a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Brate is trying to secure the starting tight end job, but Austin Seferian-Jenkins could also land the gig. Seferian-Jenkins has the much higher ceiling and is worth a late-round pick if he enters Week 1 as the starter.

Buccaneers | Seferian-Jenkins back on first team again

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 15:27:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has "earned the right" to share first-team reps with TE Cameron Brate again, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: Brate hasn't done much this preseason, while ASJ has generally blocked well and caught all five of his targets, suggesting the former may be on his way to delivering on his vast potential. If Seferian-Jenkins has finally "figured it out", he has high-end TE1 upside. He's well worth a late-round gamble in all fantasy drafts.

Buccaneers | Evan Spencer leaves early

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Evan Spencer (knee) left the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a knee injury.

Buccaneers | Gerald McCoy rests his ankle

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 21:00:29 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (ankle) did not play in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy posted 8.5 sacks with 34 tackles (26 solo) with a pass defended and safety last season. He is a Top 50 defensive lineman in deeper fantasy leagues which use plenty of individual defensive players.

Buccaneers | Vernon Hargreaves shows well

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 20:59:54 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Vernon Hargreaves III had two interceptions within the span of six plays in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: The first-round pick might emerge as a stud fantasy option in leagues which use individual defensive players (IDP) at this rate. He is definitely one to watch, as he has passed Johnathan Banks on the team's depth chart and looks like everything as advertised.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans makes presence felt

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 20:59:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans hauled in two receptions for 18 yards and a touchdown in a cameo in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Evans certainly looked the part of a WR1, and he has been flying off the board at the tail end of Round 1 or early part of Round 2 in PPR fantasy formats.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston shaky in win

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 20:58:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston completed just three of his 10 pass attempts for 28 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also ran twice for 15 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Winston was sharp last weekend, but this was a disaster. Will it be a sophomore jinx or will he take another step forward? With weapons like Doug Martin, Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson, he has the tools in place to succeed. Still, treat him more like a high-end QB2 rather than a low-end QB1 in most standard fantasy football leagues.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin sitting Saturday

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 11:08:35 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (ribs) will not play Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to bruised ribs. The decision is strictly precautionary and Martin is expected to play against the Cleveland Browns next week.

Fantasy Tip: Not a huge deal. The Buccaneers want their running back fresh and healthy when the regular season begins. Martin was second in the NFL in rushing yards last year (1,402), and while his PPR value is hindered by Charles Sims, he's still a borderline RB1 option.

Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins has best practice

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 16:07:45 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins had "probably" his best day of camp Thursday, August 18, according to head coach Dirk Koetter. He was "nearly unstoppable" during 7-on-7 red zone drills, hauling in three touchdown passes from QB Jameis Winston.

Fantasy Tip: There's no denying Seferian-Jenkins' potential, but the former second-round pick has simply struggled to stay on the field due to injury. In fact, since arriving in Tampa Bay, he's managed to suit up in only 16 of 32 ballgames. If he can just stay healthy, Seferian-Jenkins could turn out to be one of the league's breakout players in 2016. He should also easily outperform Cameron Brate, his main competition for the starting tight end spot.
