Buccaneers | Jameis Winston will see lots of reps

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:40:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston will receive more repetitions than usual for a rookie quarterback in preseason, according to general manager Jason Licht.

Fantasy Tip: Rookies can't get enough live professional football experience, including talented, big-name rookie quarterbacks. Tampa Bay wants Winston to be as prepared as possible for the regular season. The obvious risk is that the more Winston plays in preseason, the higher the risk is of being injured. He should be viewed as a backup fantasy quarterback as he enters his rookie season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin could be in line for a big, bounce-back year, in the opinion of beat writer Roy Cummings.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is reportedly leaner and faster this year, but he has a ways to go to get back into the good graces of the coaching staff. He'll compete with Charles Sims, Dominique Brown and Bobby Rainey for carries. View Martin as an RB4 with a bit of upside.

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 15:11:11 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins' health will be key to the success of the team's offense this season. If Seferian-Jenkins can stay healthy he'll be heavily utilized in offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter's system.

Fantasy Tip: Coupled with rookie QB Jameis Winston, Seferian-Jenkins will have an excellent opportunity to finish the 2015 season as a top-10 tight end, and he can be had for a late-round flier in drafts.

"What is impressive is the speed that Jameis has picked everything up -- from the huddle to the cadence to the checks to the audibles," Stocker said. "He's picked everything up so fast."

Fantasy Tip: Winston should be able to win the starting job, but he will likely be backup for fantasy purposes as a rookie.

Buccaneers | New OC to help Austin Seferian-Jenkins?

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 19:03:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins could benefit from offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, who has a solid history with tight ends. In 2010, Koetter coached Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis in a career-best season with 700 yards and 10 touchdowns. Koetter also coached former TE Tony Gonzalez's 2012 and 2013 campaigns with the Atlanta Falcons during which he piled up over 1,700 yards and 16 touchdowns over the two seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Seferian-Jenkins has all the physical tools to put up big numbers, it remains to be seen if he can produce useful numbers on a consistent basis. Still, he has enough upside to grab as a backup tight end later in drafts.

Buccaneers | Kenny Bell to be slot receiver?

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 10:30:58 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie WR Kenny Bell is expected to eventually win the starting slot receiver job. Bell will primarily be competing with Louis Murphy for playing time in the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Bell must still prove that he deserves to be the Buccaneers' primary slot receiver. If he does attain that role, it's unclear how often he'll be on the field. Plus, most targets will likely go to Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson. Bell is more of a waiver wire pickup at this point.
