Tampa Bay Buccaneers news, rumors and injuries
Tue, 23 Sep 2014 08:49:56 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo will continue serving as primary play caller as offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford takes a leave of absence to recover from a recent heart procedure. Arroyo's role in shaping the offense will increase, and he'll receive more assistance from the offensive staff.
Fantasy Tip: Arroyo has been at least partially calling plays so far for this poor offense, but maybe more control on his part will help them move the ball better. Don't bet on it happening immediately, though facing a battered Pittsburgh Steelers defense this week could be surprisingly productive.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford is taking a leave of absence. His medical condition following a recent heart procedure has not improved, and the organization wants him to come back completely healthy.
Fantasy Tip: This could put a further damper on an already battered Bucs offense, especially since Mike Glennon is replacing Josh McCown (thumb) at quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: The injury doesn't sound serious, but it's worth monitoring nonetheless. Jackson reportedly injured the wrist early on in the game and still played its entirety.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh McCown (thumb) is not expected to play in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of his thumb injury and could miss more time if he needs to undergo surgery on the thumb. McCown met with a hand specialist Monday, Sept. 22, and will need to be reevaluated in the next week or two to see if he needs surgery. The team has not ruled McCown out for Week 4.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Mike Glennon will start at least this week and could get several more starts depending on the severity of McCown's injury. Glennon probably would not be a starting option in most fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Mike Glennon will take over the starting quarterback job while McCown is sidelined, but owners in all leagues should avoid both of the Buccaneers quarterbacks at this point.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Mike Glennon will be back driving the offense in Week 4, and at least for a handful of other games. He might be a solid FantasyScore bargain in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: McCown's status for Week 4 is not known at this point, but even when healthy, he does not have much fantasy football value.

Fantasy Tip: McCown could be on a short leash since he is off to a slow start this season. Owners in all leagues should avoid using him for the foreseeable future.

Fantasy Tip: If McCown is not ready for Week 4, Mike Glennon would get the start. Neither quarterback has a lot of fantasy value at this point.
