Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith said it is too soon to tell how long QB Josh McCown (thumb) may be out following his thumb injury suffered Thursday, Sept. 18, in a 56-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Smith also didn't address whether or not QB Mike Glennon might get a chance to start at quarterback even if McCown is healthy.
Fantasy Tip: Neither quarterback warrants much fantasy consideration, but the loss of the veteran McCown could hurt Vincent Jackson and Bobby Rainey's fantasy potential.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey, starting in place of injured RB Doug Martin (knee), led the team with seven catches for 64 yards Thursday, Sept. 18, against the Atlanta Falcons. He rushed 11 times for 41 yards in a lopsided loss.
Fantasy Tip: Rainey was a solid play in PPR leagues and well worth his $4,700 price tag on FantasyScore. Martin should soon return to the fold and take away some of his touches, however.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of the injury is not known at this point. Mike Glennon replaced McCown in the game and would be the starter if McCown misses some time.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will likely find out more about McCown's injury in the next day or two if he does not return to the game.

Fantasy Tip: Bobby Rainey will get the majority of the workload out of the backfield and is seemingly a steal at $4,700 on FantasyScore against a weak Atlanta Falcons defense.

Fantasy Tip: If you needed something else to persuade you not to put Martin in your lineup, this is it. Bobby Rainey should see a heavy workload, and his price at FantasyScore ($4,700) is worth considering.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (hand) is unlikely to play in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, Sept. 18. McCoy fractured his hand just four days ago, and he said that playing too soon increased the risk of making the injury worse. With McCoy out, DT Da'Quan Bowers will have a chance to make his presence felt.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, Martin should not be considered in FantasyScore. Bobby Rainey was scheduled to get the start anyway, and may see even more work if Martin is indeed ruled out. With a FantasyScore price of $4,700 (9.4% of cap), Rainey is a great option.

Updating an earlier report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey will start in Week 3. The decision is not primarily because of RB Doug Martin's (knee) injury, but also because the team really likes Rainey.
Fantasy Tip: Martin will still be involved, but his stock in the near term has fallen considerably. Rainey ($4,700; 9.4% of your cap) is a better play on FantasyScore than Martin ($5,900; 11.8%) right now.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has more upside than Rainey, but Rainey has the hot hand. Martin ($5,900; 11.8% of your cap) and Rainey ($4,700; 9.4%) are good flex options this week on FantasyScore. Rainey might be the better play of the two with Martin coming off of an injury.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Mason Foster (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 3. DE Michael Johnson (ankle) and DT Gerald McCoy (hand) are listed as questionable, while DE Da'Quan Bowers (abdomen), C Evan Dietrich-Smith (back), OT Demar Dotson (hamstring), DE William Gholston (shoulder), OG Logan Mankins (knee) and FS Bradley McDougald (knee) are listed as probable. Foster did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17. Johnson and McCoy were limited during practice, while the rest of the players fully participated in practice.
