Buccaneers | Jameis Winston struggled in red zone

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 17:23:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston completed only 42% of his passes in the red zone in 2015, which was the second worst red-zone efficiency among quarterbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Winston threw for 4,042 yards and 22 touchdowns in his rookie season but should see his touchdown total increase if he improves his red zone work. He will have a good receiving corps to work with in 2016 and should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston drops 20 pounds

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 05:54:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston has dropped 20 pounds this offseason, according to his farther, Antonor.

Fantasy Tip: Winston has been working with renowned trainer Tim Grover, and he looks good heading into training camp. The lost weight should aid his mobility in the pocket, but it really doesn't change his fantasy outlook much. He's a high-end QB2 in fantasy.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin has tough draw for opener

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 16:14:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin averaged just 3.5 yards per carry against the Atlanta Falcons last season, and he'll face them in Week 1. He had 48 carries for 166 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Martin figures to have a featured role again after cashing in during the offseason, but he'll have company in the backfield. Charles Sims is expected to have a larger role this year. Martin slots in as a low-end RB1, but he'll have significant risk after last year's breakout leading to a big contract. Can he remain motivated to do it again? That's the question you'll have to answer on draft day.

Buccaneers | Battle in Tampa for roster spot

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 12:36:41 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Kenny Bell and Donteea Dye are expected to be the main competitors for the last wide receiver position. Dye has more experience than Bell, while Bell has better return skills than Dye. WRs Evan Spencer, Bernard Reedy and Andre Davis could also be in the running.

Fantasy Tip: Rarely is a No. 5 wide receiver worth drafting in traditional fantasy leagues. Both Bell and Dye can be avoided unless receivers ahead of them are injured.

Buccaneers | Luke Rhodes has made impression

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 12:29:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie LB Luke Rhodes was specifically named by head coach Dirk Koetter as an undrafted rookie who impressed at minicamp. Rhodes could also make the final roster due to need for depth behind LB Kwon Alexander.

Buccaneers | Vincent Jackson to see time in slot

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 08:12:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson will be used in the slot on a regular basis if WR Donteea Dye, WR Kenny Bell or WR Russell Shepard can play well enough to earn regular time on the outside. If this happens, WR Adam Humphries' snaps will be reduced.

Fantasy Tip: V-Jax is aging, and one of those receivers playing well enough to be put outside is a question mark. Jackson had just a 33-543-3 season in 2015, but he could still be a viable WR5 in PPR leagues. Bell has the most upside of the other four, and he's a WR5 flyer. The other three probably aren't worth drafting at this point.

Buccaneers | Adam Humphries wants to earn spot

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 12:10:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Adam Humphries wants to have the same mindset of trying to earn his spot on the final roster. "I have to win this spot year in and year out," Humphries said. "No matter where I stand on the depth chart I still have to win the job coming back in town."

Fantasy Tip: Humphries could very well maintain his roster spot, but he's not yet a blip on the fantasy radar.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans discusses his lack of focus

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 05:53:02 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans said he lost focus during games last season. "You know, I wasn't focused in some games and I have to do that better. I have to practice more. I have to get better in practice with it. It just comes with repetition. Last season is behind me."

Fantasy Tip: Progression isn't always statistically linear, and if a disappointing 2015 showing serves as motivation for Evans to put it all together in his third season, fantasy owners will reap the rewards. View Evans as a fringe No. 1 receiver with upside.

Buccaneers | Louis Murphy not charged

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 12:42:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Louis Murphy woke up Saturday, July 2, in a museum after attending a friend's wedding there the night before. Murphy said he had been drinking, went to the museum's courtyard and fell asleep on the stairs. The receiver broke the glass on one of the doors after being locked out and called a friend. Murphy and the museum manager agreed to work out the $1,000 in damages. Murphy was not charged with a crime.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear at this point how big of a role Murphy will have this season, but the best-case scenario will be as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson. Murphy should only be drafted as a deep flier, but not drafting him at all is fine, too.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston undervalued

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 16:22:13 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston amassed more than 4,200 total yards and 28 total touchdowns in his rookie campaign last year.

Fantasy Tip: Winston did struggle with interceptions, throwing 15, but that's normal for a rookie. He finished as the No. 13 scoring quarterback in 2015, just behind Aaron Rodgers, but is only being drafted as the No. 20 so far this offseason. The sophomore quarterback could even improve this year with another offseason under his belt.

Buccaneers | More touches for Charles Sims?

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 23:05:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is expected to see more carries in 2016, in the opinion of PewterReport.com's Mark Cook.

Fantasy Tip: Doug Martin just re-upped on a huge deal, and it's unlikely he's going to lose too much playing time. He's a low-end RB1 in fantasy, and Sims is a nice handcuff RB4.
