Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch likely done in Seattle

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 08:59:37 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is unlikely to return to the Seahawks in 2016, according to NFL Network commentator Michael Robinson. Robinson, who is close friends with Lynch, said he knew what Lynch's intentions were regarding retirement, but he wasn't at liberty to say. "It's fair to assume (his days in Seattle are over,)" Robinson said.

Fantasy Tip: In the interview, there was a feeling a door was left open that Lynch could return in 2016 with another team. If Lynch returns, he'll be a low-end RB1 consideration.

Seahawks | DeMarco Murray not a fit for Seattle?

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 16:39:18 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray drew interest from the Seattle Seahawks last offseason before he signed with the Eagles. He could be pursued by them again this offseason if he does not return to Philadelphia. That move may not make much sense for Seattle, though, according to Sheil Kapadia of Kapadia believes RB Thomas Rawls is still the answer for Seattle's future backfield even if Murray is available.

Fantasy Tip: It's no guarantee that Murray won't be back with the Eagles next season, but it's looking more unlikely as the offseason unfolds. Ryan Mathews is a capable replacement if Murray is gone, while Darren Sproles would continue to serve as the Eagles' passing down running back.

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin coming off career year

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 11:57:26 -0800

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin scored 11 touchdowns in his last six games en route to a 78-catch, 1,069-yard, 14-touchdown season. The 14 touchdowns nearly equaled his touchdown total from the four previous seasons combined.

Fantasy Tip: Baldwin benefitted, especially late in the season, from the loss of Marshawn Lynch and Thomas Rawls. The Seahawks had no effective running game and were forced to pass early and often in their games. Last year could turn out to be a career year for Baldwin when all is said and done, so don't anticipate duplicate numbers from him next season.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson the Pro Bowl MVP

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 09:32:21 -0800

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson threw three first-half touchdowns in a winning effort for Team Irvin in the Pro Bowl Sunday, Jan. 31, to earn offensive Most Valuable Player honors. Wilson went 8-for-12 for 164 yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson elevated his game to a new level in 2015, and he'll no longer be known as strictly a game manager that can make things happen with his legs. Wilson is a legitimate QB1 for fantasy drafts this fall.

Seahawks | Derrick Coleman could face charges

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 15:52:21 -0800

Seattle Seahawks FB Derrick Coleman could be facing charges stemming from a hit-and-run incident in October. The Bellevue police have recommended that Coleman be charged with felony counts of hit-and-run and vehicular assault. Coleman hit another car during the incident and left the scene. He told police that he was smoking synthetic cannabinoids and showed signs of being impaired during sobriety tests. Tests done on Coleman's blood did not show the drug in his system.

Seahawks | Jimmy Graham back in Seattle

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 11:41:17 -0800

Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham (knee) will return to the Seahawks in 2016, according to Seahawks general manager John Schneider.

Fantasy Tip: Graham suffered a scary torn patellar tendon that robs players of their burst, and it might be one of the worst injuries a pass receiver can have. He'll be a midrange TE1 option based on name value, but the risk you'll inherit drafting him is large.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson to study in offseason

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 10:36:58 -0800

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, who led the league in passer rating (110.1) and set career highs in completion percentage (68.1%) and yards per attempt (8.3), will study defenses more this offseason, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Wilson tossed 24 touchdowns to just one interception in the final seven games of the regular season in 2015. Wilson improved against the blitz this year, too, with a 137.0 passer rating against five rushers or more in the final seven games.

"I think the first step is the knowledge," Wilson said Monday. "You want to continue to grow intellectually and master that part of it. Continue to work on that craft. I think that when you really mentally grasp the game of football, the game really, really slows down. And that's what was able to happen this year especially."

Fantasy Tip: Wilson went over 4,000 passing yards for the first time in his career as the Seahawks were forced to air it out after Marshawn Lynch went down. As a result Wilson soared to a new level, and his fantasy ceiling will be higher than ever as a legitimate QB1 in 2016.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch leaning towards sunset

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 10:22:23 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is leaning towards retirement, according to Seahawks general manager John Schneider.

Fantasy Tip: A lot can change over the course of the offseason, but Thomas Rawls impressed before he got hurt. He'll be a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3 in drafts if Lynch hangs 'em up.

Seahawks | No discount for Jermaine Kearse

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 06:38:01 -0800

Seattle Seahawks impending free-agent WR Jermaine Kearse said he won't offer the team a hometown discount. "I love my hometown, but I've put in too much hard work to give a discount," Kearse said via text message. "My number one priority is to take care of my family's future, so I will consider all opportunities."

Fantasy Tip: Kearse made a statement with his 11-110-2 game in the divisional round, and he could be a WR3 target in the right situation.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to be traded or released?

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 16:33:40 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to be released or traded this offseason, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. The Seahawks could save $6.5 million against the salary cap by moving Lynch.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a big surprise, Lynch leaving would give the Seahawks more money and they still have Thomas Rawls, perhaps considered to be a poor man's Lynch. If Lynch leaves, Rawls will be in low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 territory.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to have big cap hit

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 14:00:04 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch will take an $11.5 million cap hit next season -- the highest cap hit for any running back under contract for 2016. Comparatively, RB Thomas Rawls will only take a $530,000 cap hit. Additionally, Rawls drastically out produced Lynch in 2015. Lynch gained 497 yards from scrimmage on 292 snaps, with 3.8 yards per carry and a 57% third-down conversion rate. Rawls gained 906 yards from scrimmage on 279 snaps, with 5.6 yards per carry (most in NFL) and a 75% third-down conversation rate.

Fantasy Tip: The formula certainly doesn't bode well for Lynch's future with Seattle. The Seahawks can pay less for more, essentially, at least based on 2015. Don't be surprised if Lynch is playing in a new uniform or watching football on his couch next season. If Lynch does not return, Rawls has RB1 potential.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch's future uncertain

Mon, 18 Jan 2016 16:27:34 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's future with the team is uncertain at this point, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch could be released this offseason because of his salary cap figure, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He likely will able to find a starting job with another team and could be an early-round option in some leagues.
