San Francisco 49ers TE Vance McDonald (hip) suffered a hip injury in the Week 3 game against the Seattle Seahawks and was unable to return, the team said Sunday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: McDonald should be reserved in all fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Seahawks | Thomas Rawls 'uncertain' to go vs. 49ers

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 12:14:01 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (shin) is "uncertain" to play Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers, according to head coach Pete Carroll. On Wednesday, Sept. 21, Carroll described the injury as a strain in a muscle around Rawls' shin.

Fantasy Tip: Carroll is expected to speak with the media later today, so perhaps he'll expand on Rawls' status then. For now, the second-year back should not be counted on to play this weekend. Christine Michael has thrived thus far and should be expected to carry nearly a full load in a plus-matchup. As a result, he should be a fine RB2 or even better flex option this week.

49ers | Carlos Hyde unhappy with Week 2 effort

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 09:20:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde believes a lack of patience contributed heavily to a 14-carry, 34-yard performance in a loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. Hyde also lost the fumble early, which led to Carolina's first touchdown. "What I saw was me not performing well. I come off a good week and then I perform that way, (it's) just unacceptable. I have to get better. I have to do better. I have to not put the ball on the ground. I'll get better. I have to," Hyde said.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard for owners to get down on Hyde considering the quality of defense he was facing in the Panthers. Shaun Draughn wasn't any better either, finishing with 21 yards on nine carries. Hyde could be in for another long day next weekend as the 49ers visit the Seattle Seahawks. Hyde should be considered a low-ceiling RB2 for that matchup.

49ers | Torrey Smith targeted 10 times

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith posted three receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: Smith started out slowly in the opener, but he looked pretty sharp in this one. He remains a solid WR4 in all fantasy formats.

49ers | Carlos Hyde bottled up in loss

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 22:21:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde carried 14 times for 34 yards in the Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers, and he added three receptions for 18 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde didn't do much to endear himself to fantasy owners, but he faced a difficult run defense and his team abandoned the run after falling behind by a sizable margin. Unfortunately for fantasy owners Hyde faces another quality run defense in Seattle in Week 3. He remains a low-end RB2 for that matchup.

49ers | Blaine Gabbert totals three TDs

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 22:21:11 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert completed 17 of his 36 pass attempts for 243 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers. He also rushed three times for 10 yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: Gabbert isn't a must-start fantasy option just yet, but he has posted reasonable numbers. When bye weeks starts you might want to consider Gabbert as a stopgap option, especially if the matchup is favorable.

49ers | Jeremy Kerley steps into big role

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 19:16:04 -0700

San Francisco 49ers WR Jeremy Kerley played 54 of 81 offensive snaps and led the team with 11 targets in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Slot receivers have enjoyed a lot of success in Chip Kelly's offenses, and Kerley enjoyed a solid game despite joining the team late in the preseason. He is a must-add in PPR formats and could emerge as a WR3.
