San Francisco 49ers tight ends coach Tony Sparano tutored Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten in his first two years in the NFL, and ESPN.com's Paul Gutierrez believes TE Vernon Davis could benefit from having Sparano as a position coach.
Fantasy Tip: Davis was basically a non-factor for the 49ers last season, but after piling up 850 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2013, he could be worth taking a chance on later in drafts next year in case Sparano can help Davis bounce back.

San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis had just two touchdowns in 2014, and they both came in Week 1. He also wasn't targeted at all in the red zone after the opening weekend of the regular season after catching 13 TDs in 2013. The Niners and Davis hope that the hiring of Tony Sparano as the new tight ends coach can fix that heading into 2015. San Fran tight ends combined for just 39 catches for 423 yards (10.9 yards per catch) in 2014.
Fantasy Tip: It's probably safe to say that Davis will find it difficult to be any worse next year than he was in 2014. Granted, poor QB play from Colin Kaepernick and injuries played there part, but Sparano should be a welcomed addition to the staff. However, for next year's fantasy football drafts, it's probably safe to say that Davis is now more of a fringe TE1.
