Chargers | Hunter Henry needs the ball

Sat, 18 Nov 2017 21:38:30 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry helps the offense flow better when he is involved, according to head coach Anthony Lynn, and Lynn said they need to make it a priority to give Henry the ball more consistently.

Fantasy Tip: Henry has TE1 upside, but there have been numerous games when he has completely disappeared this year. He will be an all-or-nothing option against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11.

Fri, 17 Nov 2017 17:44:23 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) has been cleared to play in the team's Week 11 game by an independent neurologist.

Fantasy Tip: Rivers went through the concussion protocol this week but was a full participant in practice each of the last two days and will have his normal workload. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Rivers still needs to pass his concussion tests but appears to be on track to play this week against the Buffalo Bills. Chargers | Philip Rivers remains limited, could play

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 13:03:58 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) has not cleared the concussion protocol and was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 16. Head coach Anthony Lynn believes Rivers will play this weekend, but that decision is up to the team doctors.

Fantasy Tip: If Rivers plays he'll be greeted by a Buffalo Bills pass defense that has been better than average in 2017. The veteran quarterback is a fringe QB1 if active, but have a backup plan in place in case he's a no go.

Chargers | Philip Rivers reaches historic plateau

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 19:30:01 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers became the eighth quarterback in NFL history with 4,000 career completions after his performance in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the process, he also passed retired QB Warren Moon for eighth on the all-time list.

Fantasy Tip: It's another notch on the belt of what has been a terrific career for the 14-year veteran, but unfortunately for his owners, this hasn't been the typical Rivers season. As it stands, the 35-year-old owns an 87.8 QB Rating, which is his lowest since 2007. Furthermore, he's averaging just over 250 passing yards per contest, his fewest in five years. Of course, with his consecutive games streak in danger due to injury, owners have to wait before deciding to deploy him in Week 11.

Chargers | Philip Rivers limited Wednesday

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 13:09:16 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) put in a limited practice Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Rivers plays this week could come down to a game-time decision. It is promising, though, that he practiced at all after suffering a concussion in Week 10. Either way, have a plan B ready in case Rivers can't go, especially since he would be in a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings anyway.

Chargers | Philip Rivers gives encouraging signs

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 06:30:57 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) has given encouraging signs on his progress through the concussion protocol, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Buffalo Bills present a midrange matchup, but Rivers hasn't been nearly as effective this season as he was in his prime. He's merely a desperation play this week.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler doing a lot with a little

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 19:31:54 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler is tied for 33rd among running backs in yards from scrimmage (184) since Week 7 - the same time he went from primarily special teams player to one participating in roughly a third of the team's offensive plays - and tied for fifth among running backs with three total touchdowns despite logging only 31 offensive touches (19 carries) over that time.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler put on a show in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars with two touchdowns and is averaging five yards per carry for the season, while starter Melvin Gordon is at 3.8 and former handcuff Branden Oliver is at 3.1. Gordon isn't losing his job anytime soon, but the fact Ekeler has been on the field for at least 30 percent of the team's offensive snaps in three straight games indicates he is the back to pursue as a handcuff.
