Fantasy Tip: Gordon is expected to play this weekend in the Chargers' third preseason game. That contest could be telling as to how healthy Gordon is and what he's able to do. San Diego may want to ease him into the regular season, but that remains to be seen. He's still a RB2 candidate.

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green will be asked to do more in 2015, especially with TE Antonio Gates suspended for the first four games of the season. Green impressed in the team's preseason game over the weekend, moving the chains on third down and even looking like Gates during one play in which he used his size against a backup safety. He also had a key block later in the game to spring RB Branden Oliver for an 11-yard gain. Green will receive more snaps this year if he can continue to improve on his blocking, something that was a weakness last season.
Fantasy Tip: Green was a big disappointment last year for fantasy owners that expected him to leapfrog Gates as Philip Rivers' go-to pass-catching tight end. Green has a real chance to bounce back and earn more playing time to kick off the season, but he still remains nothing more than a sleeper pick as your backup tight end in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon was held out of the last preseason game because of his injury but should be fine moving forward. Gordon is expected to receive a majority of the carries this season and should be a middle-round option in most leagues.

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (ankle) is not expected to participate in the second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22, even though he participated in practice Thursday, Aug. 20, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: The team likely is being cautious with Gordon since he is coming back from his injury. Gordon may share some snaps with the other running backs on the roster but should see a majority of the carries and could be a middle-round option in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: If Allen can keep up the performance he's had this offseason and continues to build his rapport with Rivers, he could be in for a career year. He may even see a bit of an increased workload with Antonio Gates out the first four weeks of the season. He's easily in the WR2 conversation right now.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon wants to improve, and was looking forward to more game action, but the team could take the conservative route and not risk him aggravating the injury and making it worse.

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen thinks he has developed a better chemistry with QB Philip Rivers this offseason. "You can look at the coverage, and you kind of know what Phil likes to throw in the play call we have and the coverage they're giving us," Allen said. "Just knowing that helps a lot."
Fantasy Tip: If Allen's words come to fruition, it could be a career year for Allen. He should be Rivers' top target at least until Antonio Gates returns from his four-game suspension, and perhaps even after that. It sounds like Allen is in for a solid year if he can stay healthy. Draft him as a WR2.

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon wants to be a more decisive runner. Gordon said he needs to work on calming himself down and let the game come to him, acknowledging that success is a process and doesn't happen right away.
Fantasy Tip: It's a good thing that Gordon is accepting this realization early in his career. There are high expectations for the rookie, but those expectations should come with patience. He still has RB2 upside.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers and the rest of the San Diego offense will not be lined up in the shotgun as much in 2015. Rivers will line up under center more this season in an attempt to create a more balanced offense, according to head coach Mike McCoy. McCoy added that the Chargers' opponent will influence how often they use shotgun.
Fantasy Tip: The Chargers have a solid group of running backs, so they can afford not to use the shotgun formation as much this season. This won't necessarily mean less production for Rivers, but that could end up being the case. He's still worth drafting as a low-end QB1 to high-end QB2.
