Chargers | Hunter Henry emerging as top TE

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 21:32:21 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry has seen 15 targets over the last two games compared to four targets for TE Antonio Gates. Gates was targeted 17 times and Henry 10 times over the first four games.

Fantasy Tip: Now that Gates has the touchdown record for tight ends, it looks like the Chargers are featuring Henry. He looks like a TE1 going forward.

Chargers | Keenan Allen may be game-time decision

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 13:47:07 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 20, because of a shoulder injury he suffered Thursday, Oct. 19 and is listed as questionable for Week 7. Head coach Anthony Lynn said Allen hopes to play but the team will do what is best for Allen.

Fantasy Tip: Owners probably will need to check the inactive list to see if Allen plays against the Denver Broncos. Allen is a risky option because of the injury and the tough matchup but can still be at least a No. 3 fantasy receiver if he plays.

Chargers | Melvin Gordon limited again Thursday

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 15:50:07 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Even though he's been limited, the fact that he's been able to practice both days indicates there should be no issue concerning him suiting up on Sunday. It's a tough matchup but obviously, Gordon needs to be started everywhere. Plus, Denver might not be as intimidating as they usually are after allowing a 100-yard effort to the far inferior Orleans Darkwa last Sunday night, providing hope Gordon can carve out a nice performance for his owners.

Chargers | Keenan Allen limited in practice Thursday

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 15:42:04 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) was added to the injury report Thursday, Oct. 19, getting in a limited practice.

Fantasy Tip: Despite being a late addition, this shouldn't affect Allen's status on Sunday, though he'll have a tough enough matchup anyway dealing with the always stingy Broncos defense. The six-year veteran is out to a sensational start after missing all but one game a year ago, as he's on pace for career highs in catches (88) and receiving yards (1,189). He should always be in the lineup no matter who his opponent is.

Chargers | Melvin Gordon limited Wednesday

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 16:03:47 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oc.t 18.

Fantasy Tip: You're not going to bench Gordon if he's active, but the matchup is worrisome versus the Denver Broncos, even after they just yielded over 100 yards to Orleans Darkwa. Even so, start Gordon as long as he's playing. He is averaging 156.5 total yards, 7.5 catches and two touchdowns over his last two contests.

Chargers | Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates nearing history

Tue, 17 Oct 2017 20:55:55 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers' next touchdown pass to TE Antonio Gates will be their 86th as a pair, breaking their tie with former San Francisco 49ers greats and Hall-of-Famers Steve Young and Jerry Rice for second-place on the all-time list.

Fantasy Tip: Obviously, Rivers is the only one of the two worth playing in fantasy these days, as Gates has been seeing fewer snaps and running fewer routes than Hunter Henry in recent weeks. If Week 1 was any indication, their chances of passing Young and Rice aren't very good as Denver held Gates to 17 scoreless yards.

Chargers | Keenan Allen kept in check

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 20:57:10 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen finished with five catches on nine targets for 45 yards in a 17-16 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was held below 60 yards for the first time this season, but he has seen at least nine targets in every game. Being Philip Rivers' go-to option should keep him in the WR2 range on a weekly basis.
