San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers' (finger) X-rays on his finger were negative following a preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29, and he said he would have continued to play if it had been the regular season.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Rivers dodged a serious injury, and he should be viewed as a low-end QB1 or one of the top backups.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers (hand) went to the locker room with a trainer before halftime after hitting his hand against a defender's hand in a preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks Saturday, Aug. 29.
Fantasy Tip: Check back for updates on the exact nature of Rivers' injury. As long as he is healthy, he is low-end QB1.

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon's struggles with pass protection have been overblown, according to running backs coach Ollie Wilson. "He's a big-bodied guy, and he's long, so he keeps people off of him," Wilson said. "I don't see what people say, that he won't pass protect. I've had no problem with it."
Fantasy Tip: It will only be a matter of time before we know if Wilson's words ring true or if Gordon needs more work with blocking on passing downs. If Gordon's pass protection isn't up to par, he may cede more playing time to Danny Woodheadand Branden Oliver. Nevertheless, Gordon should still be considered a RB2.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is expected to play this weekend in the Chargers' third preseason game. That contest could be telling as to how healthy Gordon is and what he's able to do. San Diego may want to ease him into the regular season, but that remains to be seen. He's still a RB2 candidate.

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green will be asked to do more in 2015, especially with TE Antonio Gates suspended for the first four games of the season. Green impressed in the team's preseason game over the weekend, moving the chains on third down and even looking like Gates during one play in which he used his size against a backup safety. He also had a key block later in the game to spring RB Branden Oliver for an 11-yard gain. Green will receive more snaps this year if he can continue to improve on his blocking, something that was a weakness last season.
Fantasy Tip: Green was a big disappointment last year for fantasy owners that expected him to leapfrog Gates as Philip Rivers' go-to pass-catching tight end. Green has a real chance to bounce back and earn more playing time to kick off the season, but he still remains nothing more than a sleeper pick as your backup tight end in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon was held out of the last preseason game because of his injury but should be fine moving forward. Gordon is expected to receive a majority of the carries this season and should be a middle-round option in most leagues.

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (ankle) is not expected to participate in the second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22, even though he participated in practice Thursday, Aug. 20, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: The team likely is being cautious with Gordon since he is coming back from his injury. Gordon may share some snaps with the other running backs on the roster but should see a majority of the carries and could be a middle-round option in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: If Allen can keep up the performance he's had this offseason and continues to build his rapport with Rivers, he could be in for a career year. He may even see a bit of an increased workload with Antonio Gates out the first four weeks of the season. He's easily in the WR2 conversation right now.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon figures to be a low-end RB2 in fantasy.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon wants to improve, and was looking forward to more game action, but the team could take the conservative route and not risk him aggravating the injury and making it worse.
