Chargers | Antonio Gates limited to four yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:23:31 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers TE Antonio Gates posted just one grab for four yards on his only target in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Gates is clearly well behind Hunter Henry now and he is playing out the final days of his illustrious career. It's sad to see a former fantasy stud put out to pasture, but he is best left to the waiver wire in most formats these days.

Chargers | Four grabs for Keenan Allen

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:22:59 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen managed three receptions for 41 yards on a team-high seven targets in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has at least three catches in each of his seven games this season to satisfy fantasy owners in PPR leagues, but he hasn't visited the end zone since Week 1 in the first meeting with the Broncos. As such, treat him mostly as a WR3 until he starts to produce better results.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin shows off wheels

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:22:29 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin posted a 42-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter of the Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos on his only target and he ripped off a 65-yard punt return to open the scoring in the first quarter.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is a speed burner, and it would be a good idea to try and get the ball in his hands a little more often. For now fantasy owners should only target him as a WR5 with some upside going forward.

Chargers | Hunter Henry racks up 73 yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:21:53 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry racked up four receptions for 73 yards on five targets in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Henry has been held out of the end zone over the past two games, but he has racked up nine grabs for 163 yards on 12 targets. He has emerged as a solid TE1 in most fantasy formats. The Chargers will travel to meet the Patriots in Week 8.

Chargers | Melvin Gordon stuck in neutral

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:21:16 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon rushed 18 times for just 38 yards in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos while adding one catch for six yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon really struggled against a good Denver defense. There will obviously be much better days. He'll look to bounce back in Week 8 on the road against the Patriots and he remains a solid RB1 in all fantasy leagues despite this egg laying.

Chargers | Austin Ekeler totals 44 yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:20:44 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler rushed seven times for 38 yards in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos and he added four receptions for six yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: Ekeler picked up the slack with Melvin Gordon struggling a bit against Denver's front seven. The rookie is pretty shifty and appears to be someone head coach Anthony Lynn wants to incorporate much into the plan, sort of like a poor man's Danny Woodhead. However, as long as Gordon is healthy then Ekeler's fantasy ceiling is rather limited.

Chargers | Philip Rivers tosses pair of TDs

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:20:16 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 15 of his 26 pass attempts for 183 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Rivers didn't throw for a high yardage total, but he also didn't turn it over and was sacked just three times, getting pretty decent protection along the way. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 8 against a New England Patriots pass defense which has been very shaky up until Week 7.

Chargers | Keenan Allen expected to play

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 05:44:41 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 7's game against the Denver Broncos, although he will test out the injury in pregame warmups before an official decision is made, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was listed as questionable on the injury report due to a shoulder injury suffered in practice Thursday, Oct. 19. He should be viewed as a solid WR3 or flex option this week, despite the difficulty of the opponent.

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 05:35:57 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (shoulder) will play in Week 7's game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Despite the difficulty of today's matchup, he should be viewed as a RB1 in all fantasy formats.

Chargers | Hunter Henry emerging as top TE

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 21:32:21 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry has seen 15 targets over the last two games compared to four targets for TE Antonio Gates. Gates was targeted 17 times and Henry 10 times over the first four games.

Fantasy Tip: Now that Gates has the touchdown record for tight ends, it looks like the Chargers are featuring Henry. He looks like a TE1 going forward.

Chargers | Keenan Allen may be game-time decision

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 13:47:07 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 20, because of a shoulder injury he suffered Thursday, Oct. 19 and is listed as questionable for Week 7. Head coach Anthony Lynn said Allen hopes to play but the team will do what is best for Allen.

Fantasy Tip: Owners probably will need to check the inactive list to see if Allen plays against the Denver Broncos. Allen is a risky option because of the injury and the tough matchup but can still be at least a No. 3 fantasy receiver if he plays.

Chargers | Melvin Gordon limited again Thursday

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 15:50:07 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Even though he's been limited, the fact that he's been able to practice both days indicates there should be no issue concerning him suiting up on Sunday. It's a tough matchup but obviously, Gordon needs to be started everywhere. Plus, Denver might not be as intimidating as they usually are after allowing a 100-yard effort to the far inferior Orleans Darkwa last Sunday night, providing hope Gordon can carve out a nice performance for his owners.
