Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon said he is happy that the team hired head coach Anthony Lynn because of Lynn's success as a running backs coach for many years. "He obviously knows the game, so if he sees some wrinkles, I've got another set of eyes. Everyone's got some holes in their game, and he'll bring some wisdom to help get my game right when I need it. I've got someone who has been around the game for so long and coached some of the league's best players. He'll know how to help me. He's perfect for me, so I'm excited to get this thing rolling under him," Gordon said.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon rushed for 997 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2016 and likely will receive most of the carries next season if he is healthy. Owners could see some improvement from Gordon under his new head coach and should consider him a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 running back in fantasy drafts.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers refuted reports Tuesday, Jan. 17, that claimed he asked for a trade or wanted to be dealt, specifically to the San Francisco 49ers. Rivers has a no-trade clause in his contract.
Fantasy Tip: Rivers should enter 2017's fantasy draft season as a sound QB2. While he doesn't offer much upside for a monster season, the veteran is capable of turning in a few huge games during the course of the year as a matchup play.

Los Angeles Chargers CB Brandon Flowers isn't expected to be brought back by the club next year. The Chargers would save $9 million in cash by letting go of Flowers this offseason, plus they have improved depth at the position, making him expendable.

Fantasy Tip: Woodhead is an underrated weapon for the Chargers, particularly in the passing game. When he's healthy for a full season he's capable of low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 numbers in PPR leagues, even with Melvin Gordon running the ball most of the time. Of course, the shifty back is a free agent his year, so his future with the Chargers isn't guaranteed.
