San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates said he doesn't want to play as many snaps in 2015 as he did last year. "With injuries and whatnot, I played a little bit more than they expected me to play last season," Gates said. "I was playing the whole game. How I feel next year, it depends on how much volume they have me doing. I'd like to come in on third-and-7s, red zones, those situations. That's what my contribution is at anyway."
Fantasy Tip: Gates was a pleasant surprise with 12 touchdowns in 2014, which was the second-most of his eventual Hall of Fame career. It sounds like this is the year he takes a step back that people were expecting last year. Ladarius Green's time to shine could be upon us, but Philip Rivers is very reliant on Gates. View Gates as a mid-to-low TE1, with Green closing in on him as a high TE2.

University of Oregon QB Marcus Mariota worked out for the San Diego Chargers Tuesday, April 14, with head coach Mike McCoy, offensive coordinator Frank Reich, quarterbacks coach Nick Sirianni and several front office members in attendance, sources said. The Chargers pick No. 17 overall, and it would be highly unlikely a camp would allow its client to work out for a team that far back without a strong sense a trade up is a real possibility.
Fantasy Tip: If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers elect to pick Mariota No. 1 overall, then all of this is obviously a moot point. But if the Bucs choose Florida State’s Jameis Winston, Mariota would be there at No. 2 and the Tennessee Titans could be the trade partner for the Bolts. Mariota’s fantasy value is murky at this point, as he could be drafted and sit or he could be drafted to start immediately.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota certainly would not be around when the Chargers pick, so they would obviously need to trade up. But the team has had interest in Mariota for a while. Philip Rivers is getting a little long in the tooth, and Mariota could be their QB of the near future. Stay tuned.

Fantasy Tip: Allen had six more receptions last season, but his 783 yards and four touchdowns fell way short his rookie breakout season totals. Allen's usage in the slot will allow him to be used on more intermediate routes to rack up more yards before contact. Allen is a low-end WR2 with upside.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota is expected to be selected early in the first round, so the Chargers likely would have to trade up if they wanted Mariota. The Chargers have Philip Rivers, but he is entering the final year of his contract. Mariota would not be a fantasy option if he joins the Chargers.

San Diego city and county governments have formed an alliance and will work in tandem to solve the stadium project for the San Diego Chargers. The plan is to share costs to bring in consultants and attorneys. "The city and county are going to be in this together," Mayor Kevin Faulconer said. "The leadership of Ron (County Supervisor Ron Roberts) and the Board are terribly important. As you know, we haven't always had everyone together."
