San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (knee) has no timetable for his return after suffering what is believed to be a Grade 2 sprain (partial tear) of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, according to head coach Mike McCoy. Mathews is expected to be out at least four weeks.
Fantasy Tip: Mathews is back to the infirmary after playing in all 16 games last season. In the meantime, expect Donald Brown to see the majority of the carries, especially near the goal line. Brown will be a popular addition off the waiver wire in standard leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Danny Woodhead will be involved, too, especially in passing situations, making him more valuable in PPR leagues. Even with an increased workload, Brown may not be an attractive FantasyScore option in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills on the road.

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen, who caught five passes for 55 yards in the team's Week 2 win over the Seattle Seahawks, called Seahawks CB Richard Sherman "just a normal guy." QB Philip Rivers was 5-for-5 for 60 yards while throwing to receivers that Sherman was covering.

San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (knee) suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source. Mathews could miss four to five weeks, although he's hoping to return before that.
Fantasy Tip: Mathews' absence will increase the fantasy value of Danny Woodhead (especially in PPR leagues) and Donald Brown. Woodhead is likely to see more touches, but Brown could see enough work to be considered a flex in some leagues.

San Diego Chargers RB Donald Brown saw most of the snaps after RB Ryan Mathews (knee) went down in the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He finished with seven carries for 21 yards while also added three receptions for 10 yards. RB Danny Woodhead actually led the team with 32 yards on eight rushes, and he had four catches for 28 yards.
Fantasy Tip: Brown and Woodhead should each see increased touches for as long as Mathews is sidelined. Both are decent low-end RB2s or flex plays heading into Week 3.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 28 of his 37 pass attempts for 284 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 2 win against the Seattle Seahawks. He is the first opposing quarterback since Week 8 of the 2012 (Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford) to throw for three or more touchdown passes against Seattle.

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (knee) is scheduled to undergo an MRI for his injured knee, according to a source. There is concern he might have a sprained medial collateral ligament.

Fantasy Tip: With Mathews down, Donald Brown and Danny Woodhead will see an increase in their touches. If Mathews is forced to miss time going forward, both Brown and Woodhead might be solid values in FantasyScore.

San Diego Chargers OT King Dunlap (undisclosed) left the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an undisclosed injury. He walked off under his own power and straight to the locker room. OT Willie Smith replaced him.

Fantasy Tip: Owners can consider starting Gates this week, but they may need to lower their expectations since he is playing against the Seattle Seahawks. Owners could also bench Gates if they have a better option.

Fantasy Tip: Gates has a decent price in FantasyScore at $4,100 (8.2% of cap), but the match up is not ideal. Look for other options this week.
