Pittsburgh still remains $10 million over the cap, however. QB Ben Roethlisberger and LB James Harrison are both open to restructuring their contracts, too. Comment (0) | Share: Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger still waiting to talk to new OC Mon, 20 Feb 2012 15:50:16 -0800 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he still has not spoken with offensive coordinator Todd Haley at this point. Comment (0) | Share: Steelers | Marcus Gilbert moving to left tackle Mon, 20 Feb 2012 07:16:34 -0800 Pittsburgh Steelers OT Marcus Gilbert will likely be moving to left tackle, according to general manager Kevin Colbert. "If we were to line up today, ultimately again it's the coach's decision, but my guess is Marcus Gilbert would kick over to the left," Colbert said. Comment (0) | Share: Steelers | Expected to add at two positions Sun, 19 Feb 2012 10:57:52 -0800 The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to look to add at fullback and tight end this offseason. Comment (0) | Share: Steelers | Might re-sign Mewelde Moore Sat, 18 Feb 2012 19:43:10 -0800 The Pittsburgh Steelers might be interested in re-signing free-agent RB Mewelde Moore due to the health concerns of RB Rashard Mendenhall (knee). Comment (0) | Share: Steelers | Owner says Todd Haley was Mike Tomlin's choice Fri, 17 Feb 2012 06:58:22 -0800 Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II said he had nothing to do with the hiring of Todd Haley as offensive coordinator. Rooney added he was a bit surprised that head coach Mike Tomlin hired Haley. "I think the bottom line is, Mike was comfortable that's who he wanted to come in," Rooney said. "It may be fair to say that when he started the discussions and Todd's name was on his original list, I don't think he expected that Todd was the guy he was going to wind up hiring. But as he had more conversations with him, he became more comfortable that he was the right guy for the job." Comment (0) | Share: Steelers | GM says owner not meddlesome Thu, 16 Feb 2012 07:52:09 -0800 Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert defended his owner, Art Rooney II, by saying he is not meddlesome. Colbert added team decisions are made collectively within the organization. "Art Rooney obviously is the owner of the team and the president of the team," Colbert said. "Of course he's going to be in the loop on every decision as any chief operating officer would be of any corporation. I think to say he is meddlesome or dictating every decision I think is very inaccurate. A lot of decisions are made around here with a collective effort and, in our end, when we're talking about players, it's a collective effort between myself, coach Tomlin and Art, and that's the way we do business." Comment (0) | Share: Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger starting workouts early Thu, 16 Feb 2012 05:20:59 -0800 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he has started his offseason workouts earlier than usual. Roethlisberger began training at the team's facility last week. He talked to head coach Mike Tomlin about where he is in his career and about the future. "When I talked to Mike, I said I don't know how much longer I have to play, no one does; it could be two years, three years, it could be eight years. Who knows?" Roethlisberger said. "I'm hoping that I'm just starting in my prime. I've already been working out with (Garrett Giemont), our strength coach, already. I've never worked out this early. It's not like high-intensity, out killing myself, but I'm working out, I want to come to camp lighter than I've ever come, in better shape, because as you get to a certain point, a certain age in this football thing, your body doesn't recover like it used to."
