Steelers | Antonio Brown to sit out again

Fri, 18 Aug 2017 15:16:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown will not play in the preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Brown should play in the third preseason game like he did last season. Brown is one of the best receivers in the NFL and will be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | James Conner set to make debut

Fri, 18 Aug 2017 12:42:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (shoulder) is scheduled to play against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Aug. 20. Head coach Mike Tomlin expects to give Conner as much work as possible. "I'm going to give him as much as he can handle (while keeping a close eye on him)," Tomlin said.

Fantasy Tip: There is been talk about Fitzgerald Touissant being the main backup in Pittsburgh while Le'Veon Bell remains out of camp, but a good showing from the rookie over the next week or two should end that discussion. Given Bell's issues in recent years and by virtue of the offense he will be playing in, Conner should be considered one of the best handcuffs in fantasy football.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell turned down huge five-year offer

Fri, 18 Aug 2017 11:49:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell, who has yet to report to training camp, reportedly turned down a five-year contract extension averaging more than $12 million per year annually that his agent and the team had agreed upon right before the July 17 NFL deadline for franchise players to sign long-term deals.

Fantasy Tip: It has already been reported that Bell intends to report to camp in the coming days, but Bell's desire to reset the market for running backs may ultimately end up hurting him. While he does have a history of keeping himself in good shape and coming back from long layoffs, the history of players - especially running backs - missing most of camp and holding up for the season is not great. At this point, a compelling case can be made to slide Bell down fantasy draft boards every so slightly.

Steelers | JuJu Smith-Schuster misses practice

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 16:12:12 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 17, because of a bone bruise in his knee.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Smith-Schuster is dealing with a minor injury but may miss the second preseason game because of the injury. He is still an option for the No. 3 receiver job but needs to return to the field if he wants to win the job. He has a chance to be a late-round flier in deeper leagues if he receives a solid role in the passing game.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell to report before season

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 10:27:30 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will report to the Steelers prior to the commencement of the regular season, although it is unclear exactly when he will report, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Bell continues to wait for a long-term deal after being tagged this offseason. Nevertheless, he will return to the field as arguably the best running back in the game. He has to be one of the first two players taken off the board in any format.

Steelers | JuJu Smith-Schuster leaves early

Wed, 16 Aug 2017 17:03:30 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (undisclosed) left practice early Wednesday, Aug. 16, after suffering an undisclosed injury. He was on the ground for a few minutes but was able to walk off on his own.

Fantasy Tip: Owners probably will know more about Smith-Schuster's injury in the next day or two and there is a chance he misses the second preseason game. He has been competing for the No. 3 receiver job during training camp but could lose the job if he misses time. He could be worth a late-round flier if he wins the No. 3 receiver job.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger to sit Sunday

Wed, 16 Aug 2017 15:05:27 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has been told that he will not play in the preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Aug. 20, but will play in the third preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger had a similar workload last preseason, so the team wants to make sure he is healthy for the start of the regular season. Roethlisberger has plenty of weapons to work with in the passing game but is not a great fantasy option because he has struggled on the road for the last few seasons. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 quarterback in leagues.
