Steelers | Ladarius Green not retiring

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 13:34:02 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) would like to return to the Steelers next season. He is not considering retirement despite suffering multiple concussions with multiple teams. "Frustrating season, but everybody has one," Green said. "I hope it's the only one I have. I'm going to go train as soon as I get home, and hopefully next season works out a lot better."

Fantasy Tip: Green showed promise when he did play in his first season with Pittsburgh, which was only in six games. He caught 18 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown in those contests, including a 110-yard performance in early December. He'll need to prove he can stay healthy and play consistently before he's even thought about as a TE1.

Steelers | Antonio Brown struggled in zone

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 12:21:42 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown caught just five passes for 53 yards in zone coverage against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game. He only bested Patriots CB Malcolm Butler for two catches and 24 yards in zone coverage.

Fantasy Tip: Butler did a great job in coverage all game. Look for him to shadow Julio Jones as much as possible in the Super Bowl. Despite Brown's lack of success in such a crucial game, he remains a top-tier receiver in all fantasy formats for 2017.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger stellar against zone

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 12:13:24 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 16 of 17 passes for 123 yards versus the New England Patriots' zone defense in the AFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: All things considered, Roethlisberger had a good game statistically, but the Patriots really limited the Steelers' big-play potential. A large part of that was due to Antonio Brown not finding much room as Malcolm Butler did a great job in coverage all game. Look for Butler to shadow Julio Jones as much as possible in the Super Bowl. Injuries and gradual decline make Roethlisberger a backup fantasy option next season.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell had pre-existing injury

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 05:55:55 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) had an injured groin before the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 22. Bell said he had been managing the ailment, but he knew during warmups that he wasn't close to 100 percent. He left the game and returned for one play, but he knew his day was done afterwards. "I saw the seam and couldn't hit it," Bell said. "It was like I was running 50 percent out there. At that point, I knew I couldn't go. I was holding the team back."

Fantasy Tip: Bell will be one of the top options at the position in fantasy drafts next season. There is some concern about his durability, though. He's a fantastic combo back in PPR leagues, but he has had a knack for injuries the last few years.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell returned for one play

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 05:13:32 -0800

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) returned to the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 22, for one play after suffering a groin injury. He left again, and he didn't return.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is expected to remain with the club in 2017, possibly via the franchise tag, and he'll be one of the top running back options in fantasy.

Steelers | Jesse James involved

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 19:45:24 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James caught five passes for 48 yards against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Fantasy Tip: No Ladarius Green meant more work for James, who served admirably as a safety blanket. He has mild upside in 2017 if given a larger role.

Steelers | Eli Rogers effective in losing effort

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 19:19:44 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Eli Rogers caught seven passes for 66 yards against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Rogers flashed at times in 2016, but his role for the upcoming season won't be clear until much later in the summer. He has upside to be a WR4 in fantasy, but if the "Killer B's" are reunited, Rogers will remain a fringe play most weeks.

Steelers | Antonio Brown quiet in loss

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 19:01:55 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown hauled in seven passes for 77 yards against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Arguably AB will be the best fantasy pick in all formats once again. He's at the top of his game and in a great system for elite fantasy results.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams bottled up

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 18:57:24 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams rushed 14 times for 34 yards and a touchdown filling in for an injured RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) on Sunday, Jan. 22, against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. Williams added 51 yards on seven catches.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is a free agent this March, and given how well he has played backing up Bell through the past few seasons, it stands to reason that Pittsburgh will look to offer him another contract. He is nothing more than a handcuff in deep leagues, however, when Bell is on the field.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger decent in loss

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 18:53:00 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 31 of his 47 passing attempts for 314 yards, one touchdown and an interception Sunday, Jan. 22, against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Fantasy Tip: Big Ben was done no service by his receivers -- namely Sammie Coates, who dropped three catchable balls. Losing Le'Veon Bell early was costly, but New England largely bottled him up before his departure. Roethlisberger is a low-end QB1 or ideal backup in 2017 fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell questionable to return

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 17:00:45 -0800

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) is questionable to return to the AFC Championship game with a groin injury.

Fantasy Tip: There is not much gamers can do at this point, so cross your fingers and hope he returns to the lineup.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell update

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 16:46:58 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (ankle) returned to the field to test his injured left ankle before gingerly returning to the sideline and removing his helmet during the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for more, but RB DeAngelo Williams has played well enough to keep Bell on the sideline in a non-emergency situation.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell on the sideline

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 16:20:54 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (undisclosed) was on the sideline as the first quarter closed against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22. Bell was seen wincing and talking to the team trainer.

Fantasy Tip: DeAngelo Williams has been effective his stead, but it doesn't appear Bell's injury is severe.
