Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison (shoulder, triceps) sat out practice Thursday, Jan. 22. LB Vince Williams (shoulder) was a limited participant, while RB Fitzgerald Toussaint (concussion), QB Zach Mettenberger (illness), WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (illness), DE Ricardo Mathews (ankle), C B.J. Steelers | Chris Boswell returns to practice

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 17:13:09 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers PK Chris Boswell (illness) returned to practice and was a full participant Thursday, Jan. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Although Boswell was fantastic last week, making all six of his field goal attempts against the Chiefs in the Divisional Round, he's probably the least recommended kicker of the four remaining for DFS lineups this weekend. His NFC counterparts will be kicking indoors in a likely shootout, while his opponent on Sunday, Stephen Gostowski, is as reliable as they get.

Steelers | Ladarius Green downgraded

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 13:28:20 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion, illness) did not practice Thursday, Jan. 19, after being limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Green is headed to another absence this week. Jesse James is a capable starter, but he doesn't have the offensive potential that Green does. Look for Pittsburgh to lean heavily on Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell once again.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell excused from practice

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 12:12:52 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (personal) was excused from practice Thursday, Jan. 19, because of personal reasons. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Bell will be able to play in the AFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has rushed for at least 100 yards in seven of the last eight games and will see plenty of work against the New England Patriots. He is a must-start option in all fantasy leagues.

LB James Harrison (shoulder, triceps), DE Ricardo Mathews (ankle) and RB Fitzgerald Toussaint (concussion) fully participated in practice.

Steelers | Chris Boswell misses practice

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 13:43:37 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers PK Chris Boswell (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Boswell should be able to play in the AFC Championship game as long as he can recover from the illness. He made all six field goals in the Divisional round and is a solid option for fantasy owners.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell receives day off

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 13:40:48 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has set the franchise record for rushing yards in each of the last two playoff games and will continue to be a main focus on offense for the Steelers. He will be facing a solid New England Patriots defense but should still be a No. 1 running back in all leagues.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger sits out

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 13:39:49 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger will be fine for the AFC Championship game and will look to win his third straight playoff game. He has thrown two touchdowns and three interceptions in his first two playoff games and has struggled on the road this season. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Ladarius Green limited Wednesday

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 13:14:17 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Green will be cleared to play in the AFC Championship game. Green will be a risky fantasy option for owners this week but will have some value if he is active for the game. He could be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in leagues.

Steelers | Ladarius Green not expected to suit up

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 20:53:04 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is not expected to play in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 22, against the New England Patriots, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Fantasy Tip: Green is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, so this declaration seems more likely to occur than not at this point, especially given the former Charger's history with concussions. With Green probably remaining on the sidelines, Jesse James will slide back into the starting tight end spot and offer solid value for DFS lineups this weekend.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell made historic mark

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 16:11:39 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's 157.0 yards from scrimmage per game in 2016 were third most ever for a running back in one season.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers were wise and fed Bell the ball throughout his 12 games. Bell, David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott each deserve to be the first running back taken in fantasy drafts, but Bell and Johnson have more value in PPR formats.

Steelers | Antonio Brown in rare company

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 16:01:42 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown is one of only two receivers in NFL history to achieve four consecutive seasons of at least 100 catches. Former Indianapolis Colts Marvin Harrison is the other.

Fantasy Tip: Not much can be said about Brown's accolades that haven't already been said. He's the best receiver in the league and he proves it year after year. His high volume of catches makes him more valuable in PPR leagues, but he should be the first receiver taken in both PPR and standard leagues.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant applies for reinstatement

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 11:12:02 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant applied for reinstatement Tuesday, Jan. 17, according to a source. Bryant will not be able to return for the playoffs, but he could return for the 2017 regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant's size, speed and deep-play ability would give the Steelers yet another offensive weapon. Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell will still be the focal points of Pittsburgh's offense if Bryant is reinstated, but Bryant should not be overlooked. He tallied 765 yards and six touchdowns in 2015 despite playing in just 11 games.

Steelers | James Harrison battling a pair of ailments

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 09:49:23 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison (shoulder, triceps) is dealing with a shoulder and triceps injury that will limit him early in the week, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Steelers | Ladarius Green struggling to get back

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 09:37:54 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Green has been sidelined since Week 15, although Tomlin said he had a chance to play in the Divisional Round before ultimately being ruled out. Although Jesse James had a fine game last week, the Steelers could really use all hands on deck in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots after failing to score a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. Owners should consider him highly questionable at best.
