Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) is not scheduled to undergo groin surgery at this time even though he met with doctors after the season, according to a source. Bell probably would have had surgery by now if it was necessary.
Fantasy Tip: Bell likely will rehab the injury during the offseason and could be limited during workouts but should be fine for training camp. He probably will receive the franchise tag from the Steelers or sign a long-term contract. He continues to be one of the best running backs in the NFL and should be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton is not expected to be back with the team next season, "unless he has no other decent offers and returns for minimum salary," according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Fantasy Tip: Wheaton will become an unrestricted free agent March 9, but no matter where he lands, he shouldn't even be considered as a potential draft pick in deep leagues. The 26-year-old was limited to just three games this past season due to a shoulder ailment, registering only four receptions for 51 yards. He should get a shot with some other NFL club, though.

Pittsburgh Steelers CB William Gay could be released this offseason since he is scheduled to count $2.63 million in 2017 and is 32 years old. He served as the team's nickel back this past season, but the team may want to look for an upgrade at the position.

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert indicated the team is not sure if they will be able to count on CB Senquez Golson (shoulder, foot) in 2017 since he has missed his first two seasons because of injury. Colbert said he is not sure if Golson lost any speed because of the foot injury he dealt with during his rookie season. The Steelers will not hesitate to select a cornerback in the 2017 NFL draft even if Golson is healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Green's concussion history is concerning, but he showed flashes of his potential when healthy in 2016. Feel free to gamble on his TE1 upside, but make sure you have a solid alternative in place.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger hinted about retirement after the season, but most people believe that he will play at least one more season. He recorded 3,819 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2016 and will have most of his weapons back next season. He can be considered a No. 1 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green is not currently in the NFL's concussion protocol, but he's yet to be cleared from a concussion that he sustained in the team's Week 15 game opposite the Cincinnati Bengals.
Fantasy Tip: This is definitely concerning, as health continues to be a roadblock for the 26-year-old tight end. Green has flashed notable potential before of being a legitimate TE1, but until he proves he can stay healthy, owners should look elsewhere in that department. He was limited to just six games this past season.

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell will hit the free-agent market March 9, and general manager Kevin Colbert said signing Bell and tagging Bell are both options. "The tag is always an option, and it's something we'll use if necessary," Colbert said. Colbert did add that even if Bell is tagged the Steelers still want to sign him to a long-term deal eventually.
Fantasy Tip: Bell is perennially one of the best running backs in the league. It would be in the Steelers' best interest to sign their star running back to a long-term contract sooner rather than later. It's unlikely that Bell will be playing for another team in 2017. He should be one of the first players taken in fantasy drafts as long as he is in good health.

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent LB Lawrence Timmons could be playing for another team in 2017. General manager Kevin Colbert said he would love to have Timmons finish his career as a Steeler, but implied that the Steelers are willing to let Timmons test the free-agent market if he's deemed too expensive for them to keep.

Fantasy Tip: One would hope so. Bell and Brown are two of the best players in the NFL and arguably the best at their respective positions. Both are early first-round picks no matter the format, as long as they're healthy.
