Steelers | Xavier Grimble a potential starter?

Fri, 23 Jun 2017 18:57:03 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Xavier Grimble could push TE Jesse James for the starting job if he can become consistent catching the football, according to Bob Labriola of Steelers.com.

Fantasy Tip: With a receiving corps led by Antonio Brown and bolstered by the return of Martavis Bryant and addition of JuJu Smith-Schuster, whoever ends up as Pittsburgh's top tight end should be considered a TE2 for fantasy purposes.

Steelers | Knile Davis working on special teams

Fri, 23 Jun 2017 15:41:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Knile Davis worked on most of the special teams units during offseason workouts and was told he will compete for the kick returner job. Steelers | Sammie Coates healing up

Thu, 22 Jun 2017 20:54:32 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Sammie Coates (groin) said he has spent the last month making sure his "body is back to normal" following offseason groin surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Coates has big-play speed but inconsistent hands, and now that Martavis Bryant is back in the mix, Coates probably won't have a defined role in the offense.

Steelers | Maurkice Pouncey close to retirement?

Wed, 21 Jun 2017 11:12:54 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey has said in the past that he will retire when QB Ben Roethlisberger retires because he does not want to work with a new quarterback but indicated he may be willing to stay after Roethlisberger leaves. "You get so used to playing with a great quarterback like that. For it to switch up, maybe try it out for one year of experience or two to see how things go, but man, it would be real hard," Pouncey said.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell extension iffy before deadline?

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 13:10:30 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has a 50% chance of agreeing to a long-term extension before the July 17 deadline, in the opinion of Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. La Canfora cites Bell's history of injuries and suspensions as logical reasons to take a year-by-year approach with Bell. Plus, Bell counts $12 million against the Steelers' salary cap.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is arguably the best running back in football, but $12 million is a steep price to pay for a running back, no matter how good they are. Deal or not, it would behoove owners with a top three draft pick to select Bell.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger praises Martavis Bryant

Mon, 19 Jun 2017 22:17:58 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said WR Martavis Bryant "looks like a stud, as usual" when asked how the returning wide-out is fitting back in with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Before he was suspended for the entirety of last season, Bryant was indeed a stud in his first two years in the league, catching 14 touchdown passes across 21 games, while accumulating 76 receptions for 1,314 yards over that span. If he can avoid the off-the-field issues that have plagued his career, there's no doubt Bryant can be a big-time contributor again in 2017 and should be monitored in drafts accordingly.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell's workload being discussed

Thu, 15 Jun 2017 20:54:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's workload has been a topic of conversation for the coaching staff, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley. "He's a guy who gets stronger every game," Haley said. "He does not want to come out of the game. He's a year older. We've got to make sure we cover all of that, which we will and do as a staff."

Fantasy Tip: Bell is one of the true workhorse backs left in the NFL, and he is also one of the most versatile backs. Expect him to see all the touches he can handle again in 2017, and he should be one of the first two players selected in drafts.
