Steelers | Sammie Coates activated

Wed, 16 Aug 2017 07:11:41 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Sammie Coates (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Coates is expected to battle for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart, and the offensive firepower makes that spot relevant. He's on the WR5 watch list.

Steelers | Sammie Coates hopes to return this week

Mon, 14 Aug 2017 15:44:56 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Sammie Coates (knee) said hopes to be activated from Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Coates probably will compete for the No. 3 receiver job when he returns to practice but may be behind Eli Rogers and JuJu Smith-Schuster on the depth chart at this point. He has dealt with injuries over the last year and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | JuJu Smith-Schuster back at practice

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 18:44:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (head) returned to practice Sunday, Aug. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Smith-Schuster is in a battle for the No. 3 receiver role in Pittsburgh. If he breaks camp with the job, he is worth a late-round flier. If he has a smaller role, his value is limited to keeper formats.

Steelers | James Conner on track to play

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 17:58:17 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (shoulder) said he felt great after doing individual work and 7-on-7 drills during practice Sunday, Aug. 13, and he is on track to play in the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Conner's recovery remains on schedule, he should enter the season as the primary backup to Le'Veon Bell. He is one of the more appealing backup running backs to draft, and Bell owners should grab him as a handcuff.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant to practice in full Sunday

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 09:35:43 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant participated in a closed practice session Thursday, Aug. 10, and has been cleared for full practice Sunday, Aug. 13, after the Steelers received word from the league earlier in the week he was allowed to rejoin the team.

Fantasy Tip: The reports on Bryant have been positive all offseason, but he is at risk of being overpriced in fantasy as his ADP has already shot into the fourth round. While he certainly has the talent to live up to it, he will be hard-pressed to do so in an offense that will be centered around Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell. Owners also need to consider the likelihood Ben Roethlisberger will miss time again this season. He's a high-risk, high-reward WR2 at his current ADP.

Steelers | JuJu Smith-Schuster has concussion

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 17:23:22 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) suffered a concussion during the preseason game Friday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Smith-Schuster will not return to the field until he is able to pass his concussion tests, so his chance to be the No. 3 receiver is in question. His fantasy value will depend on what his role will be in the Steelers offense.

Steelers | JuJu Smith-Schuster may have concussion

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 16:28:14 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (head) left the preseason game early Friday, Aug. 11, and is being evaluated for a concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Smith-Schuster will miss time because of a concussion. He is competing for the slot receiver job but may be the No. 4 receiver if he misses extended time. He could be a No. 5 receiver in some leagues if he is the slot receiver for the Steelers.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant expected to sit Friday

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 14:45:55 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is not expected to play in the preseason game against the New York Giants Friday, Aug. 11, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is allowed to play in preseason games but has not practiced with the team yet, so he is more likely to play in the second preseason game. He is a risky option for fantasy owners because of his off-field issues but can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver because of his big-play ability.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant not fully cleared

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 16:31:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant has been cleared for all preseason activities but will continue to be evaluated as to his readiness to participate in regular season activities.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant can practice during training camp and play in preseason games for now but appears to be on track to be on the field for Week 1. He can be a solid No. 3 fantasy receiver despite his off-field issues.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant reinstated

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 16:17:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is now permitted to participate in all football activities, according to general manager Kevin Colbert.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant probably will not play in the first preseason game but has a chance to play in the second game. Bryant is a risky option for owners because of his previous off-field issues but is a productive player with 14 touchdowns in 21 career regular season games. He should be considered a high-end No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Coach talking with Le'Veon Bell

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 15:09:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he has been in contact with RB Le'Veon Bell during his holdout but does not have an update on when Bell will report. Bell is working out in South Florida and may report to the team in late August.

Fantasy Tip: Bell probably does not need a lot of practice time before he plays in a game, so he likely will skip most of the preseason. Bell has dealt with injuries during his career but is one of the top running backs in the NFL when healthy. He should be a first-round pick in all leagues and could be selected with the first-overall pick.
