 Eagles | Nagy hired The Philadelphia Daily News reports the Philadelphia Eagles have hired former Arena Football League QB Matt Nagy as a coaching assistant. He had been a coaching intern for the Eagles during the last two training camps. Eagles | Expect to make a decision on McNabb before early May Bob Grotz, of the Delaware County Times, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb is due a $6.2 million roster bonus in early May, assuming he is still part of the organization. The timing of the bonus isn't a coincidence. The deadline gives the Eagles and McNabb time to take a look at the big picture before making any more commitments. Eagles | Westbrook not talking retirement The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook appears as if he is not planning to retire. Westbrook said during a radio interview Monday, Feb. 8, that he is "just trying to enjoy this offseason and trying to get ready for this next upcoming season." Westbrook missed eight games, suffered two concussions and posted his lowest totals since his rookie year this past season. Eagles | Could receive several inquiries about Kolb Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports the Philadelphia Eagles could receive calls from at least six teams about the availability of QB Kevin Kolb, according to a source. Eagles | Westbrook expects McNabb to return The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook said during a radio interview that he fully expects QB Donovan McNabb to return to the team next season. Eagles | Westbrook talks about his concussion issues The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook said during a radio interview that he was not fully healed from his first concussion when he returned to action even though he waited three weeks and passed all of the tests. Westbrook suffered a second concussion during the season. "What happened to me was that I was not completely healed from the first concussion. Even though I waited that long amount of time and passed all the tests I still wasn't completely healed from the first concussion and it came back just like that. After that I had to sit out another five or six weeks just for me to be completely sure that I was 100% OK." Westbrook said. Eagles | Foley visited team Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports free-agent DE/LB Ricky Foley (CFL) has visited with the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles | Savage hired as consultant The Philadelphia Eagles have announced they have hired former Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage as a player personnel consultant for the 2010 NFL Draft. Eagles | Two coaches promoted Philadelphia Eagles coach Mike Caldwell has been promoted to the assistant linebackers coach and Mike Zordich has been promoted to defensive quality control coach. Eagles | Vick has not yet talked about a trade Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick said during a television interview that he has not had a conversation with head coach Andy Reid about a potential trade to another team. "He is just keeping it open for right now," Vick said. "I guess collectively they are trying to decide what they want to do." Vick added, "I'm just sitting back waiting on a final decision. If I'm in Philadelphia, it is cool. If I'm traded … it would be a great situation. I just have to deal with it." Eagles | Plan to keep Vick next season Michael Lombardi, of NFL Network, reports the Philadelphia Eagles plan on keeping QB Michael Vick in 2010. "They have no intention this offseason of trading Michael Vick," Lombardi said on NFL Network's NFL Total Access. "Many people around the league feel like that's a lot of false bravado, (and) they're going to release him, because he has a ($1.5 million) roster bonus due in March. Not the case. The Eagles believe as this offseason continues, they could incorporate him more into their offense. Seven-to-15 plays, he's a unique player, plus he could start at a moment's notice." Eagles | Jauron hired as secondary coach Jason La Canfora, of NFL.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have hired former Buffalo Bills head coach Dick Jauron to be their new secondary coach. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Eagles | Have until March 5 to make decision on Vick's option Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have a $5.25 million option on QB Michael Vick's 2010 contract. The team has until March 5 to make a decision on whether to pick up the option, but there have been reports that the team is not planning to pick it up. The team could look to trade him before making any decision. It is possible the team would release Vick if they are unable to make a trade. Eagles | Brooks signed The Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent P Durant Brooks (Packers) to a two-year deal Tuesday, Feb. 2. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Eagles | Roseman says offseason important for Laws The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said DL Trevor Laws remains in the team's plans for the future but the offseason will be important for him. Eagles | Roseman says Harris needs to get stronger The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said FS Victor Harris needs to get bigger and stronger during the offseason. He said this is a big offseason for Harris. Roseman believes Harris can help but does not know what he role he will have next season. Eagles | Roseman expects to get some compensatory picks The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said the team is expected to get two low-round compensatory picks in the 2010 NFL Draft based on their preliminary investigation. Eagles | D. Jackson would like new contract Ashley Fox, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson said he would like to renegotiate his contract. Although Jackson would like a new deal, he does not think the team will reward him with one, because with two years remaining on his rookie deal, the Eagles are not obligated to renegotiate. Eagles | Vick wants to start in 2010 Chuck Bausman, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick said during a radio interview that he wants to be a starting quarterback in the NFL next season and that it would be difficult for him to return to the same role he had in Philadelphia. "Me and my agent spoke briefly about 2 days ago (about the Eagles being willing to let him out of the final year of his contract)," Vick said. "He's just trying to get an understanding on what we thought was the best-case scenario and how we should approach the situation in regards to being respectful. We thought that was important. We didn't put a timetable on it but it should happen pretty soon. So, we'll see." Eagles | Expected to trade Vick before NFL Draft The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has already assured QB Michael Vick he will trade him before the NFL Draft, according to a league source. Eagles | Kolb wants opportunity to start The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Kevin Kolb said he is ready for the opportunity to become a starting quarterback in the NFL; however, he added that he will be a team player as the team figures out their quarterback situation. "I want to be a starter in the NFL. That's my No. 1 goal right now," Kolb told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I want that opportunity. But I'm going to be a team player. I trust Andy (Reid, the Eagles' head coach). I trust his decisions and his ability to see what's in the future and plan out my career the right way. Hopefully, we'll do those things to get me on the field at some point, not knowing when it's going to be." Both QB Donovan McNabb and Kolb are entering the final season of their respective contracts. The Kolb camp seems open to discussing a contract extension that would pay the quarterback either as a starter or a backup depending on the situation. Eagles | D. McNabb led the NFC in rushing with four carries for 26 rushing yards. Eagles | Have not made decision on QB for next season Paul Domowitch, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles president Joe Banner said the team has not made a decision on their quarterback decision next season and plan to discuss the situation in the near future. "We do have to make a decision on [the quarterback situation]. The decision could be anything from the status quo to some change. I think [head coach Andy Reid's] comment speaks very clearly to where we're at as it relates to [QB Donovan McNabb]. There's no point in me trying to elaborate on it," Banner said. Eagles | Akers believes he can play a few more seasons Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles PK David Akers said he believes he can play several more years in the NFL. "I think around 40 [years old] would be pretty realistic. I would think if the team wanted to sign me to this year [2010] and a three-year extension - a total of four years - I wouldn't think that would be out of the realm of possibility at all," Akers said. Eagles | Vick intent on being a starter somewhere if possible Jason La Canfora, of the NFL Network, reports sources close to Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick anticipate him playing for another team next season and looking to land a starting job. Among teams that could be interested in Vick as a starter include the Buffalo Bills, St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars. Those teams could be interested in Vick because they are struggling to sell tickets and attract attention to their smaller markets. Eagles | Not planning to pick up option on Vick Jason La Canfora, of the NFL Network, reports the Philadelphia Eagles are not planning on picking up the 2010 option in QB Michael Vick's contract, according to sources. They will look to trade Vick before making a final decision on his option. Eagles | McNabb to be traded? ESPN reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb is the subject of trade speculation leading up to the offseason. However, McNabb is denying any rumors that he will be traded and continues to say that he wants to stay with the team. Eagles | Iupati on NFL Draft radar? Jeff McLane, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Idaho OG Mike Iupati could be on the Philadelphia Eagles' radar for the NFL Draft. The Eagles could be looking to address an offensive line that was banged up this past season. Eagles | Stewart leaves for college job The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach Brian Stewart has left the team to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Houston. Eagles | McNabb, Mikell added to Pro Bowl The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that QB Donovan McNabb and SS Quintin Mikell have been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster. Eagles | Peters led team in penalties in 2009 Sheil Kapadia, of Philly.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles OT Jason Peters led the team in penalties and penalty yards in 2009. Peters finished the season with 11 penalties for 78 yards. Eagles | Vick will get own reality show Brad Biggs, of the National Football Post, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick will have his own reality show, called "The Michael Vick Project." BET will begin a 10-part series following Vick on Feb. 2. Vick believes the show will be an opportunity to show some of the changes he has made in his life since spending nearly two years in a federal prison for his role in a dog fighting ring. Eagles | Sh. Andrews hopes to be ready for training camp Sheil Kapadia, of Philly.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles OT Shawn Andrews (back) said during a radio interview on the 97.3 ESPN that he hopes to be ready for the start of training camp. Andrews said that he owes head coach Andy Reid, who has stood by him the past couple of seasons. Andrews added, "If nothing else, I just wish that I could get just one more season just so I can pay coach Reid and just prove to the fans that I still have it, I still want to be a part of this organization. And for coach Reid sticking by me with my situation in 2008, and I definitely owe the city of Philadelphia so hopefully lord willing, I can get back to 100 percent and get to mashing people again." Eagles | McNabb likely to be invited to Pro Bowl The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb will likely be invited to his sixth Pro Bowl and first since 2004. Players whose teams are in the Super Bowl are unable to play in the Pro Bowl, and either New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees or Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre will be forced to withdraw from the game. McNabb was chosen as the first alternate for the team. Eagles | Knee injury could force Westbrook to retire Howard Eskin, of WIP 610 Radio in Philadelphia, reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook's (knee) knee injury is bad enough that he may not even be able to pass a physical for another team and that the injury could force him to retire. Westbrook has one year remaining on his contract and is due $7.5 million. Eagles | Wright, Dorsey worked out Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles worked out free-agent RBs Dwayne Wright (Giants) and DeDe Dorsey (Bengals), according to Scout.com's Adam Caplan. Eagles | Two conditioning coaches fired Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles conditioning coaches Mike Wolf and Jay Merlino have been fired. No replacements were immediately hired for those jobs. Assistant Barry Rubin is the only member of the strength and conditioning staff to be retained. A team source said the Eagles felt they needed a fresh approach in the strength and conditioning department. |
