Philadelphia Eagles news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: We'll see. Mathews has already missed two games with an injury Pederson initially called day-to-day, although MCL sprains are almost always multiple-week injuries. In an offense that has almost completely lost its way in recent weeks and certainly not running the ball enough to support even one runner in fantasy, owners should be able to do better at their flex spot in the fantasy playoffs.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham (oblique) suffered an oblique contusion in a Week 13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He is not expected to practice Wednesday, Dec. 7, but should be back in time to play versus the Washington Redskins in Week 14.
Fantasy Tip: DGB would be expected to be the Eagles' top receiver in Week 14 should Jordan Matthews be unable to play, but it seems as though he'll have a chance to make it back from his ankle injury. Regardless of Matthews' status next week, Green-Beckham is far too inconsistent to consider as a potential starter in the fantasy playoffs.

Fantasy Tip: On a day in which Carson Wentz completed 36 passes, receivers accounted for only 14 catches. The Eagles' top receiver in its blowout loss to the Cincinnati Bengals was undrafted rookie free agent Paul Turner, which should provide plenty of insight into the current state of the position in Philadelphia. Turner would be a desperation play at best in Week 14 against the Washington Redskins should Matthews not play, but it appears as if he'll have a shot. Matthews will be a low-end WR3 for that game if he can go.

Fantasy Tip: Turner posted more yards in a single game than Nelson Agholor ever has. Turner could have bought himself more playing time going forward, but his fantasy appeal remains rather negligible.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles rushed seven times for just 14 yards, but he was able to score a rushing touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also had six receptions for 35 yards on six targets.
Fantasy Tip: Sproles is healthy after dealing with a rib injury and he remains a solid play in most PPR fantasy formats. He has less value in standard leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz was limited by an injury to his ribs late in October, but he has looked good in November and into December. Ertz has six or more receptions in four of his past five outings, and he has found the end zone twice in the past three games. He can be trusted again as a low-end TE1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 14 against the Washington Redskins.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Carson Wentz completed 36 of his 60 pass attempts for 308 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the Week 13 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also rushed three times for 16 yards. Wentz is the first Eagles quarterback since Mike McMahon in 2005 with a passer rating under 65 four times in one season.
Fantasy Tip: Wentz has three 300-yard performances this season, but it was his first in a month. The interceptions were also a single-game high for him, as the rookie has been much less efficient than his first four games.

Fantasy Tip: With Ryan Mathews sidelined again, it was a very disappointing performance for Smallwood and his fantasy owners. He will look to rebound in Week 14 against the Washington Redskins, but should be treated more as a RB3 for that matchup.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson should receive interest from multiple teams if he becomes available this offseason. He likely would be one of the starting receivers if he joins the Eagles since he would be familiar with the offense. Jackson probably will be a No. 3 receiver no matter where he plays next season.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews was only able to practice on a limited basis Thursday, Dec. 1, and had been listed as questionable on the injury report. TE Zach Ertz and WR Dorial Green-Beckham are likely to see the biggest increases in fantasy value due to Matthews' absence.

Fantasy Tip: With word coming out that Jordan Matthews is a no go in Cincy this seems like a no brainer despite Agholor's struggles. Perhaps the week off will help him clear his head and get the former first-round pick back on track. That being said, it's still not time to consider Agholor for a spot in anyone's lineup.
