Eagles | Philly teammates on board with Sam Bradford

Fri, 27 May 2016 11:23:59 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles FS Malcolm Jenkins said the Eagles aren't harboring any ill feelings toward QB Sam Bradford after he skipped the start of the offseason program and demanded a trade. "But I think right now, barring anything crazy or anything changing over the next few months, I think everybody is very comfortable with Sam and looking forward to him falling into that role," Jenkins said.

Fantasy Tip: That stance could change quickly if Bradford struggles out of the gates in 2016. Bradford has been too injury-prone and inconsistent to use as anything more than a fantasy backup so far in his career.

Eagles | Rueben Randle out a couple weeks

Wed, 25 May 2016 12:48:52 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Rueben Randle (gallbladder) is fine, according to a source, but he is extremely sore and will be out two to three weeks while he recovers from having his gallbladder removed, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has an opportunity to be the No. 2 wide receiver for the Eagles this year behind Jordan Matthews. Nelson Agholor will be right there, too, though. Randle will need to prove himself on a new team and in a new offense. He's worth a look as a low-end WR4 or WR5.

Eagles | No QB order set in Philly

Wed, 25 May 2016 11:33:46 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said that the order set with QB Sam Bradford as the No. 1, QB Chase Daniel as the backup and QB Carson Wentz as the third guy is "probably not the right impression." "But the other thing that -- as coaches -- that you've got to establish is a culture of competition. This is one of the most competitive industries in the world and so, to say that there's not competition, that's just the furthest thing from the truth."

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Bradford was the starter recently after the quarterback ended his brief holdout. It's likely just coach speak from Reich, and we fully expect Bradford to enter Week 1 as the starter. Bradford's leash could be short, though, since Pederson has an affinity for Daniel and Wentz has the skills to be serviceable in the NFL quickly. Bradford, or whoever is starting for Philly in 2016, should be firmly in the fantasy backup conversation.

Tue, 24 May 2016 16:48:17 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks is up to 250 pounds compared to the 235 pounds he played at last year. He doesn't yet know if he'll play at 250 this season, though.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews sitting out

Tue, 24 May 2016 07:47:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (illness) is out of practice Tuesday, May 24, due to illness.

Fantasy Tip: With all the buzz hovering over the quarterback situation, something that hasn't had much of a spotlight on it is that Mathews is in line to see the bulk of the work in the backfield. The team traded DeMarco Murray, and trade rumors surround Darren Sproles. Mathews could wind up a low-end RB2 in PPR leagues.

Eagles | Rueben Randle has surgery

Tue, 24 May 2016 07:47:03 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Rueben Randle (gallbladder) is out of practice Tuesday, May 24, due to a recent gallbladder surgery.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown how serious the procedure was or how long he's slated to miss. Randle is a WR4 consideration at full strength, but check back for updates.

Fri, 20 May 2016 14:41:11 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles OG Isaac Seumalo is expected to compete with OG Allen Barbre during training camp but is not able to participate in offseason workouts at this point because Oregon State uses the quarter system for their classes.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not worried about QB situation

Thu, 19 May 2016 19:13:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz said he isn't going to run his routes any differently for QB Sam Bradford than he would for QB Carson Wentz.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has TE1 potential, but consistency has been an issue throughout his career. The quarterback situation shouldn't impact his value too much, and Ertz's upside is worth taking a chance on if you wait until later in your draft to address the tight end spot.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has rapport with Bradford

Thu, 19 May 2016 09:58:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews flew to Oklahoma in March to work with QB Sam Bradford, and Matthews is OK with Bradford's trade request earlier in the offseason.

"If I'm cool with it, then everybody should be cool with it," Matthews said. "Look, if I want to be here, and I'm happy with it, and we can go out there and just compete, that's all I want to focus on. That's all that matters."

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had a decent 85-997-8 season last year, but he was really hamstrung by the absence of a legitimate target opposite of him. Rueben Randle and Chris Givens should help deter double coverages from him. Matthews is a high-end WR2 in fantasy, while Bradford's fragility makes him a low-end QB2.

Eagles | Sam Bradford works with first-team

Wed, 18 May 2016 09:47:31 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Tuesday, May 17, with QB Chase Daniel taking repetitions with the second-team and QB Carson Wentz with the third-team. "I've actually talked to Sam since he's back," head coach Doug Pederson said, "and I told him: My feelings haven't changed. He's my guy. He's the No. 1 guy. I want him to embrace that and not look backward. Look forward."

Fantasy Tip: Bradford is expected to enter the season as the starter, but he may not have a long leash if he struggles, especially since Pederson has a history with Daniel and has high praise for him. Regardless, Wentz is the QB of the future in Philly. Bradford is nothing more than a midrange fantasy backup, but he can put up low-end QB1 numbers in the right matchups.

Eagles | Coach impressed with Wendell Smallwood

Tue, 17 May 2016 14:48:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood looked good running the ball and catching the ball out of the backfield during practice Tuesday, May 17, which impressed head coach Doug Pederson. "He's shown some explosiveness. I really like how well he catches the football out of the backfield. I think that's something that's just a gift that he has. He's a natural pass-catcher. I like that part of him. I like his vision. He's another one of those rookies that's learning the game," Pederson said.

Fantasy Tip: Smallwood probably will not have a big role during his rookie season but could see playing time on third downs as a receiver out of the backfield. Owners should keep an eye on his during training camp to find out his role. He probably can be avoided in most leagues but can be selected in some keeper leagues.

Eagles | Cody Parkey not a full participant

Tue, 17 May 2016 14:36:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles PK Cody Parkey (groin) was limited during practice Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Parkey missed most of the 2015 season because of a groin injury, so he is slowly working his way back. He is expected to compete with Caleb Sturgis for the kicker job, but neither player will be a strong fantasy option.
