The Philadelphia Eagles waived or released WR Rueben Randle, LS John DePalma, CB Randall Evans, OT Andrew Gardner, DT Mike Martin, S Nick X. Perry and CB Denzel Rice on Sunday, Aug. 28. In addition, the Eagles placed DE Alex McCalister (calf) and LB Joe Walker (knee) on Reserve/Injured list.
Fantasy Tip: Randle joins Chris Givens as receivers Philadelphia hyped up in the offseason, only to fail to survive the first round of cuts Sunday. The ex-New York Giant will likely get another shot with another team down the road, but he has been a perpetual disappointment after he was trumpeted as one of the most NFL-ready prospects in his draft class in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: After an offseason in which he was supposedly making a move to start opposite Jordan Matthews, Givens was among the Eagles' first round of cuts. It bodes poorly for his NFL future that he was unable to last any longer for one of the more receiver-starved teams in the league. It is likely he'll get another chance or two, but Givens' promising rookie season with the then-St. Louis Rams in 2012 will probably go down as his best.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, Smallwood should be viewed as nothing more than a late-round flier in fantasy leagues containing 12 or more teams. However, he could make a viable in-season option if the Eagles suffer an injury at the position.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford has done everything asked in Philadelphia, and he looks like the favorite to win the starting job since Carson Wentz is injured. If Bradford can secure the starting job in Philadelphia and hang onto it, he would be a decent QB2 in most fantasy formats as long as he can stay healthy.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham saw his first game action with the team in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Indianapolis Colts. He had two receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown before departing.
Fantasy Tip: DGB will be a welcome addition to the Philadelphia offense if he can use his size and strength in the red zone and avoid the injury bug. Fantasy owners will want to take a late-round flier on Green-Beckham and hope a change of scenery helps him reach his potential in Philadelphia.

Fantasy Tip: Owners are understandably concerned that Matthews might not be ready for the start of the season, but this proclamation from the 24-year-old should put those concerns at an ease. Matthews sounds very confident about being ready for Week 1, so it appears that will be the case more likely than not. After barely missing out on 1,000 receiving yards a year ago, Matthews is a solid bet to top that plateau in the upcoming campaign. It's also worth noting that he hasn't missed a single game in his first two seasons.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham will receive snaps with the first-team offense during the preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts Saturday, Aug. 27, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Fantasy Tip: Green-Beckham has a chance to earn a solid role in the passing game if he plays well against the Colts since none of the Eagles receivers have stood out during training camp. Green-Beckham was inconsistent as a member of the Titans, so he should only be a late-round option in deeper leagues at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Wentz is nothing more than a low-end option in two-quarterback and SuperFlex leagues, as he's projected to need some time to develop his craft in a backup role. It's likely best to limit ownership to dynasty and keeper settings for the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews should garner a large percentage of targets in the Philadelphia offense, and he's flashed plenty of fantasy upside through his first two seasons. He should be ready for Week 1, and the third-year receiver checks out as a viable No. 3 wide receiver in the majority of fantasy settings.
