Fantasy Tip: The backfield was already trending toward the committee anyway, as Mathews has only touched the ball 12 times since logging 22 carries in the season opener. Darren Sproles should be considered the best option for Philly whenever the Eagles face a stout run defense, while Mathews is shaping up to be a touchdown-dependent flex option. Rookie Wendell Smallwood and Kenjon Barner will also be involved, likely making this a backfield to avoid going forward.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (ankle) carried just twice for minus-5 yards in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Doug Pederson did not have information on Mathews' status after the game, but said he would have an update Monday, Sept. 26. Mathews has been dealing with an apparent ankle injury, but he has not missed time despite having an ankle heavily taped.
Fantasy Tip: Mathews was non-existent, while Wendell Smallwood, Kenjon Barner and Darren Sproles all had solid performances. Fantasy owners will want to watch practice closely this week before deciding on Mathews for Week 4.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham is a candidate to see his role expanded, according to head coach Doug Pederson. "He's coming along really well. We're giving him a little bit more each week. He's understanding things a little bit better and processing the information better. Again, this is something as we go forward we'd love to obviously get him a little more involved from a standpoint of getting more targets thrown in his direction," Pederson said.
Fantasy Tip: Green-Beckham only has four catches (on six targets) for 32 yards through two games, but owners need to keep in mind he has only been with Philadelphia for a little over a month. DGB flashed toward the end of his rookie season last year with the Tennessee Titans and his talent is such that he could emerge as the No. 1 receiver with the Eagles if the mental part of his game catches up with the physical part. He is certainly worth a stash in deeper leagues.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) will return to action Oct. 9, during Week 5's game against the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Doug Pederson. He has already been ruled out for Week 3's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and the club has a bye in Week 4.
Fantasy Tip: Brent Celek and Trey Burton will once again split time at tight end for the Eagles against Pittsburgh, with Burton possessing more upside and worth considering as a low-cost option in daily fantasy contests.

Fantasy Tip: This is one reason Wentz has looked so polished in the early going of his rookie campaign. Overall, the 2016 No. 2 overall draft pick has thrown for 468 yards while completing 60.6 percent (43-of-71) of his passes, with three touchdowns compared to zero interceptions. Considering the weapons he has at his disposal, he just may have potential in becoming a legit QB1 by year's end.

Fantasy Tip: Trey Burton had a solid game with a 5-49-1 line last week. He's worth consideration if you need an injury fill-in against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
