Bartell is saving up some money now to pay whatever fines he gets for refusing to wear the pads a year from now. "Personally, I won't be wearing them," Bartell said. "So I'd better put some fine money away." Comment (0) | Share: Raiders | Rolando McClain issues apology Wed, 23 May 2012 05:08:42 -0700 Oakland Raiders LB Rolando McClain apologized Tuesday, May 22, for bringing bad publicity to the team following his recent conviction in Alabama for assault and other charges stemming for allegedly threatening to kill a man and firing a gun next to his head. McClain was convicted last week of third-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in the city limits last week and sentenced him to 180 days in jail. McClain is out on bail and rejoined the Raiders this week at the team's offseason workouts. "I apologize for the bad publicity that has been put out there," McClain said. "It is a legal process so I can't talk much about it but I think in due time if the Raiders and the Raiders fans that are out there, we'll all see, it will all come to an end and it is what it is. I can't really talk much about it, but it will be resolved in the near future." "He's so explosive and can do so many things down the field, but for him to take that next step he needs to get more balls that aren't deep balls or big posts down the field for touchdowns," Palmer said. "He needs to catch slants and curls and digs and things like that. And the way things are lined up he's the guy. He's our 'X' receiver and I'm excited for him. I know he's excited about this year and he's got a lot to prove." Willingham will serve 90 days in jail. McClain is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, menacing, and wrongful discharge of a firearm in connection to an incident last October. Comment (0) | Share: Raiders | Rolando McClain set to appear in court Thu, 17 May 2012 05:52:18 -0700 Oakland Raiders LB Rolando McClain is set to appear in court Thursday, May 17, on charges of third degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in the city limits. On the eve of McClain's trial, a disturbing video emerged that could threaten his case. The video claims McClain and his friend Jadoriaus Willingham attacked the alleged victim Rishard Tapscott. In the video, Tapscott is seen getting punched and kicked by Willingham. The video does not show McClain hitting the victim or brandishing a firearm, which he is alleged to have done. The video appears to be a composite of several cell phone videos taken and ends after someone off camera threatens to shoot. "It's obvious that McClain has been edited out of parts of it, but it matches up perfectly with (the victim)'s statements of it," attorney Carl Cole said. "I think this shows that there may be cracks in Willingham and McClain's circle of friends. They may not all be willing to hide what happened that night." Palmer said Owens' presence was good for the young receivers. "It was great for them," Palmer said of his young teammates. "It was our fourth or fifth day in a row of throwing and they were tired and sore and for them to see another guy, that's not on a team, that's grinding … I think it was a little bit of an eye-opener for them." Palmer added he has no issues with Owens, despite rumors of such from their one season together with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, Palmer is not sure the team needs a veteran presence in the receiving corps.
