Raiders | Raiders interested in Julius Thomas?

Fri, 27 Feb 2015 18:38:59 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent TE Julius Thomas is drawing interest from the Oakland Raiders, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: If Thomas lands in Oakland, he would immediately become one of Derrick Carr's top targets, especially in the red zone. He probably won't put up the numbers he did in Denver, but Thomas should still be considered a TE1 as long as he remains healthy.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew on the bubble?

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 13:17:08 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew could be on his way out of Oakland after a disappointing 2014 campaign. The veteran running back played in 12 games and averaged just 2.2 yards on 43 carries.

Fantasy Tip: The days of Jones-Drew being an RB1 are over. If he is cut and finds a new team, he'll likely be no more than a complementary running back. If he stays, he'll probably back up Latavius Murray. Murray has RB2 potential if he starts in Oakland's backfield.

Raiders | OAK may make run at Randall Cobb

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 04:24:10 -0800

Free-agent WR Randall Cobb (Packers) may be targeted by the Oakland Raiders if he reaches free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has recovered from injury issues that plagued him in 2013, but a move like this might hurt his fantasy value depending on if he goes to a team with a lower-quality quarterback. It's hard to imagine Green Bay letting him go, so stay tuned.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew needs to stay in shape

Fri, 13 Feb 2015 15:25:44 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew will need to keep his weight where it needs to be next season so he can be an explosive runner again, according to head coach Jack Del Rio.

Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew was hampered by injuries this past season and rushed for only 96 yards. Jones-Drew likely will not be the starting running back if he remains with the Raiders and probably will not be an option in fantasy drafts next season.

Raiders | Latavius Murray has chance to start

Fri, 13 Feb 2015 15:20:25 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has shown the traits to be a candidate for the starting running back job next season, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. "I think he has shown enough of the traits to make him a candidate to be that guy," Del Rio said. "I don't know that he's earned that yet. He's shown that there is potential there. He's done enough things to pique your interest. He's got size and speed. He can go. There are some things that we will need to work to improve, such as overall awareness and football IQ." Del Rio said the offensive line can do a better job opening more holes for Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Murray received a lot of carries near the end of the season and looks to be in line for the starting job next season. Murray has the chance to be a workhorse for the Raiders and could be a No. 2 running back for owners next season.

Raiders | Derek Carr excited for new offense

Tue, 10 Feb 2015 13:19:50 -0800

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is excited for the team's no-huddle offense under new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. "Sometimes, the games were really slow for me [last season]," Carr said. "It was almost like I was waiting for it to speed up." Carr had experience with the no-huddle offense in college at Fresno State University and said he's very comfortable in it.

Fantasy Tip: While the new no-huddle offense could give Carr a boost in fantasy value, he's still no more than a backup fantasy quarterback as he continues to gain experience and waits for a better supporting cast.
