Raiders | Amari Cooper praised by Tim Brown

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 21:01:10 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper was praised by retired WR Tim Brown. "This guy is just a superb, great receiver," Brown said. "He's going to be dominant Day 1."

Fantasy Tip: Cooper should see plenty of targets as a rookie, and while some highs and lows are to be expected, he should make a solid WR3 or low-end WR2.

Raiders | Clive Walford projected as starter

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:44:13 -0700

Oakland Raiders TE Clive Walford is slated in as the starting tight end, according to ESPN.com's Bill Williamson.

Fantasy Tip: Walford will still have to beat out Mychal Rivera, among others, in training camp and preseason. Williamson said he expects Walford to win the starting job because he is more able to stretch the field.

Raiders | Amari Cooper wants to work with QB

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:08:57 -0700

Oakland Raiders rookie WR Amari Cooper said he wants to individually catch passes with QB Derek Carr three more times before the start of training camp, according to Carr.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good sign when a receiver wants to spend more time with his quarterback. Carr and Cooper seem to be developing the beginning of a good rapport. Carr has already lauded Cooper's rout-running and work ethic. We'll see what happens once they hit the field, though. Cooper should be drafted as a low-end WR2 in his rookie season, while Carr should be taken as a fantasy backup.

Raiders | Kenbrell Thompkins could be on bubble

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 14:34:57 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Kenbrell Thompkins could be released if he does not perform well during training camp. Thompkins could be the team's No. 4 receiver if he makes the final roster.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor his work during the preseason to see if he is playing well. Thompkins probably should be passed on in drafts even if he does make the team.

Raiders | Rod Streater working with QB

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 09:31:18 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Rod Streater has been working with QB Derek Carr since the two have not played together much because of injuries. Streater missed most of last season because of a foot injury, while Carr missed most of the offseason workouts because of a finger injury. Carr is expected to hold a workout with the receivers before training camp starts.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known what Streater's role in the offense will be this season, but he could be a part of the passing game. Owners probably could pass on Streater during drafts and pick him up on the waiver wire if he produces for the Raiders.

Raiders | Roy Helu good with hands

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 13:54:47 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Roy Helu was one of two running backs with at least 40 targets last season that caught 89% of those targets. Helu caught 42 of his 44 targets. The other running back was Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Helu hasn't run the ball a lot in his three-year career so far, but he has proven to be a solid pass-catcher. Latavius Murray will be doing most of the ground and pound work out of the backfield for the Raiders, but Helu should see his fair share of opportunities on passing downs. He has more value in PPR leagues and should be taken as RB4.

Raiders | Trent Richardson drops weight

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 10:38:45 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson lost some weight this offseason and showed some quickness during offseason workouts, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson been a bit of a disappointment since entering the league but will look to play well for the Raiders. He probably will not start this season but should receive some carries. Richardson could be a late-round option in deeper leagues as a handcuff to Latavius Murray or depth at the position.

Raiders | OL coach impressed with Latavius Murray

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 10:25:02 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray performed well during the mandatory minicamp this offseason, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice. Tice said Murray showed good speed and finish during practices.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders could use a committee at running back this season, but Murray should see a majority of the carries. He posted a solid 5.2 yards per carries in 2014 and added two touchdowns. Murray could be a middle-round option in drafts and could be a No. 2 running back in deeper leagues.

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 20:20:50 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Roy Helu had an "outstanding" offseason and showed good quickness, awareness and hands, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice.

Fantasy Tip: Helu could be worth a late-round flier in point-per-reception leagues, especially if Trent Richardson underwhelms leading up to the season.
