New York Jets WR Devin Smith (knee) is expected to begin the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. If he does start on the PUP list, he will miss at least the first six weeks of the regular season.
Fantasy Tip: Quincy Enunwa seems to be the favorite to be the No. 3 wide receiver with Smith ailing. Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker will see most of the targets, though, so Enunwa should only be considered as a deep flier in later rounds. Smith can be avoided altogether if he does indeed start the season on the PUP list.

Fantasy Tip: It's to be expected that a running back at Forte's age and with Forte's workload wouldn't be a bellcow anymore. He's still the Jets' top option at the position, though, and should be viewed as a high-end RB2.

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa currently has the inside track on being the No. 3 wide receiver. He will battle with WRs Kenbrell Thompkins, Jalin Marshall and Devin Smith (knee) for roster spots and playing time behind WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.
Fantasy Tip: Marshall and Decker are both viable No. 2 receivers for your fantasy squad and also provide a reliable floor. There's a tremendous falloff after them, though. Additionally, there isn't a lot of fantasy value for the third receiver in the passing game, especially if tight end Jace Amaro reestablishes himself as a pass catcher. At this point, Enunwa and Thompkins are potential late-round fliers in deep leagues, but they are likely best left to the waiver wire. Marshall and Smith don't currently move the fantasy needle.

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson (leg) said he expects to be ready for the start of the regular season but is not sure when he will be able to practice during training camp. He said the rehab from his broken leg is going well and that he is running four times a week.

New York Jets DE Sheldon Richardson will receive his normal snaps during training camp even though he has been suspended for the first game of the 2016 season. Richardson was limited during training camp last season and said his conditioning was an issue after he served a four-game suspension.

New York Jets RBs Zac Stacy (leg) and Khiry Robinson (leg) will compete for the No. 3 running back job during training camp, but Robinson may have an edge because the team does not believe he has reached his full potential yet.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the preseason to see if Stacy or Robinson will win the job. Whoever wins the competition likely will receive limited playing time during the season and should not be a fantasy option.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro is the projected starter for the Jets after he missed all of last year with a shoulder injury. He has worked hard on his blocking and believes he's improved in that area. However, he must earn the trust of offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and head coach Todd Bowles. The Jets tight ends combined for just eight catches on 23 targets in 2015.
Fantasy Tip: Kellen Davis became the starter last year for lack of better options, and he had just three catches for 18 yards and a score. Amaro is the better pass-catcher and should be utilized more often, but with the QB spot still unsettled, there's not much to like here. Leave Amaro undrafted.

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson (leg) said he will be ready for the season opener but can't predict when he'll be available in training camp. He is recovering from a broken right leg suffered in the season finale in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: One would think Fitzapatrick and the Jets will grind out a deal sometime in the near future, and ideally before training camp. Fitz would be their best option at quarterback and have the most fantasy value. Geno Smith, in the meantime, is easily in the QB2 conversation.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson is firmly behind Matt Forte and Bilal Powell in the pecking order for touches, and Robinson also needs to prove his health in training camp. Still, winning the goal-line duties would make Robinson a late-round flier in standard leagues and a viable option in touchdown-heavy formats.

It looks as though the New York Jets may wait to view the practice repetitions of QB Geno Smith in training camp before there is more movement in talks with free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets), according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: The stalemate continues. It's probably in the best interests of both parties to have a reunion, but both sides are being stubborn. If Fitz doesn't return, Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker will surely suffer. If the QB does return, he's a high-end fantasy backup, at best. Stay tuned.

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) re-signing with the New York Jets by the start of training camp, or shortly after, isn't a sure thing. The Jets have been offering a three-year, $24 million deal with $12 million in the first year.
Fantasy Tip: A deal would make a lot of sense for both sides, and it could just be a game of chess right now. Fitzpatrick threw for 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns last season, but he turns 34 in November. It's tough to take him as anything more than a great QB2 in fantasy.

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) and the New York Jets should have more flexibility in future negotiations because the signing of DE Muhammad Wilkerson brings the possibility of a one-year deal. New York had just $3.4 million in salary cap space before the Wilkerson deal. That will now increase by a few million because the Jets no longer have to carry Wilkerson's $15.7 million franchise tag.
Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick is still the best option for the Jets at quarterback, and perhaps the Wilkerson deal can help push the envelope. If the envelope is eventually sealed with a Fitzpatrick deal inside, he'll be worth a look as a high-end QB1 to low-end QB2.

New York Jets DE Sheldon Richardson will "surely" come at a higher price than the $54 million in guaranteed money to which DE Muhammad Wilkerson signed, according to NJ.com's Darryl Slater. Richardson and the Jets are expected to start long-term contract negotiations next offseason as Richardson enters the fourth year of his rookie contract.
