Jets | No talks between Jets, Ryan Fitzpatrick

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 18:32:19 -0700

The last time free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets had any meaningful talks was "weeks ago," according to one source.

Fantasy Tip: The drama increases, as the Jets selected Christian Hackenberg in the second round of the NFL Draft. With Bryce Petty selected in the draft last season, the Jets are stockpiling talent at the position. Fitzpatrick might not be returning to Gang Green, who also still have Geno Smith.

Jets | Christian Hackenberg's footwork improving

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 18:22:58 -0700

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg's footwork was much better in private workouts after he worked with quarterback coach Jordan Palmer, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Hackenberg has a lot of attributes you look for in an NFL starting quarterback, but he has some developing to do. He is worth scooping up late in dynasty leagues, but he may never have much fantasy relevance.

Jets | Christian Hackenberg should sit first year

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 18:01:31 -0700

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg is expected to sit and grow in his first season in the NFL. If free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) is re-signed, it could very well only be a one-year deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets were in need of a quarterback with the iffy Fitzpatrick situation. Fitzpatrick will start if he does return, but Hackenberg could be the future of the quarterback position. Stay away from him in fantasy this season, though.

Jets | Christian Hackenberg to Jets

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 17:45:49 -0700

The New York Jets selected Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg with the No. 51 overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft on Friday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets are still in a stalemate with Ryan Fitzpatrick, but he could still re-sign this offseason, which would relegate Hackenberg to a backup role and allow him to learn at the NFL level. Hackenberg is a project at the quarterback position and can't be expected to have much fantasy value, even if he somehow finds himself starting in New York in his rookie season.

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 19:51:05 -0700

New York Jets LB Darron Lee's speed is what the team was looking for, and he doesn't need to add any weight to his 232-pound frame, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Jets | New York GM likes Hackenberg

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 16:50:25 -0700

Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg has drawn the admiration of New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan. The Jets aren't likely to take Hackenberg with their first-round pick, but he could be an option for them in the second round.

Fantasy Tip: Opinions vary on Hackenberg, but it will probably take him at least a year to acclimate to the professional level. And even then, he may not be an NFL starter. His fantasy relevance is likely still a couple years away.

Jets | Ryan Fitzpatrick may not play

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 13:30:02 -0700

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) has told people he would rather not play football this season than play for the New York Jets under their latest contract offer.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick and the Jets are clearly at odds, and Fitz could very well end up on another team if New York isn't willing to increase their offer. The grizzly, veteran quarterback played like a borderline QB1 last season. He could be in the same territory in 2016 depending on where he's quarterbacking.

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 10:54:48 -0700

Jets | Gang Green cool on Paxton Lynch

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 10:48:34 -0700

Memphis QB Paxton Lynch's interest from the New York Jets has cooled, according to sources. Lynch reportedly scored an 18 on the Worderlic test, and there are concerns about his maturity and ability to handle the cerebral nature of the position. The Jets are likely to pass on him at No. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is a project quarterback that is likely a couple of years away from starting. He's not an option in single-year formats for now.

Jets | New York targeting WR?

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 09:46:27 -0700

The New York Jets could be targeting a wide receiver with their first-round pick, according to sources. Texas Christian WR Josh Doctson and Notre Dame WR Will Fuller are names to watch.

Fantasy Tip: Both Doctson and Fuller are exceptional wide receiver talents that could make an impact in the NFL right away. However, with the Jets, they'd be behind Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker on the depth chart, so it could prove tough for them to make a consistent fantasy impact. Consider both in the WR4 or 5 range depending on who drafts them.
