Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Matt Forte (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, July 28, because of a hamstring injury. Head coach Todd Bowles said Forte is considered day-to-day at this point.
Fantasy Tip: Forte probably will receive a few days off, but it does not appear like he will be miss significant time because of the injury. He should receive a majority of the work at running back this season and can be a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick will look to match his impressive numbers from 2015 this season when he recorded 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns. He should be seen as a low-end No. 1 or a valuable No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Forte is dealing with an injury. Forte should receive most of the touches from the running back position this season and likely will be involved in the passing game. Forte should be considered a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick will be the starting quarterback for the Jets this season with Smith likely being the primary backup. Fitzpatrick is coming off a terrific 2015 season and will have Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker back this season. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or an elite No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Smith suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament late in the 2015 season and probably will miss some time during the 2016 season. Owners may want to avoid Smith in their drafts because he would miss at least the first six weeks of the season if he starts the regular season on the PUP list.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith and QB Bryce Petty were atop the depth chart, but now that the team has re-signed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year deal either Smith or Petty might be looking for a new team by the regular season opener.
Fantasy Tip: Smith was a Top 25 fantasy option before the Fitzpatrick signing, now he should go mostly undrafted in all fantasy leagues. Petty needs to have a huge training camp and preseason, taking a necessary step forward.

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the New York Jets Wednesday, July 27, worth $12 million. Fitzpatrick can earn an additional $3 million based on the team's performance.
Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick is coming off a 2015 season where he recorded 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns and will have most of his offensive weapons back this season. He should be a low-end No. 1 or a great No. 2 quarterback in most leagues. His signing will also help the fantasy value of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick and the Jets have not been able to reach an agreement since the start of free agency, but he does not have many options available. He had a terrific 2015 season and would have the same receivers to work with this season in addition to Matt Forte. Fitzpatrick would be a low-end No. 1 or a top No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson is working his way back from a broken leg, but he could be in position to take looks at the goal line. The team doesn't think he has reached his full potential, but they did sign Bernard Pierce for depth today. Robinson is one to watch in camp, but his value may be restricted to TD-only leagues.
