New York Jets owner Woody Johnson will serve as the United States ambassador to the United Kingdom under President-elect Donald Trump's coming administration, which starts Friday, Jan. 20. Johnson will have to cede day-to-day control of the franchise for the first time since he purchased it in 2000. He'll also likely have to resign from the NFL's Finance Committee, Business Ventures Committee and Media Committee.

Updating a previous report, New York Jets OG Brian Winters will receive all $15 million in guaranteed money during the first two years of his four-year, $29 million contract. The pact also contains per-game roster bonuses of $500,000 in both 2019 and '20.

Contrary to a report earlier this month, New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall is not open to accepting a pay cut. He is set to make $7.5 million in 2017, the final season of a three-year, $26 million contract. "People need to get away from (my being) due $7.5 million. Get away from my salary. That's underpaid. Any team should be happy to have me for $7.5 million," Marshall told WFAN radio's Boomer and Carton Show on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Fantasy Tip: According to ESPN, Marshall's 2017 salary is tied for 13th among receivers in terms of actual cash payout. The 32-year-old (33 in March) probably isn't going to repeat 2015 again (109 catches, 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns), but nagging injuries and poor quarterback play make him look a lot worse than what he was in 2016 (59 catches, 788 yards and three TDs). With an upgrade at quarterback this off-season, Marshall could return to the WR2 ranks.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries have derailed Smith's career, but the Jets spent a second-round pick on him and will likely give Smith every opportunity to prove his worth once he is healthy. Smith has big-play speed, and he will be worth a late-round flier in deeper formats in 2017.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith (knee) is unlikely to be back with the club in 2017, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. Smith is recovering from ACL surgery performed last November, and the team is expected to try and resolve the quarterback position during the spring, long before Smith is fully recovered.
