Jets | Brandon Marshall fears second-hand smoke

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 05:49:20 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall tweeted that he was in Jamaica for his sister's wedding, and he was worried the second-hand marijuana smoke could force him to fail a drug test. It's unclear how serious he was, but he can't be suspended for his first positive marijuana test under the league's substances of abuse policy.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall loses some luster with age and a questionable passer throwing to him, but he's still a steady WR2 in fantasy.

Jets | Jace Amaro not used in red zone in 2014

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 10:44:32 -0700

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was targeted only nine times in the red zone last season. Amaro could be used more often in the red zone under offensive coordinator Chan Gailey.

Fantasy Tip: Amaro had a pretty quiet 2014 season with 345 yards and two touchdowns but could be more involved this season. Amaro could be a No. 2 tight end for owners in deeper leagues next season.

Jets | Brandon Marshall insulting Jay Cutler?

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 18:23:25 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said Thursday, July 16, that former QB Kyle Orton was the best quarterback he has played with in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's comments seem like a jab at Jay Cutler more than a compliment of Orton, but if Geno Smith can't play consistent football this season, Marshall could be begging for Orton. Draft him as a lower-end WR2 in 2015 and expect a few duds over the course of the year.

Jets | Chris Ivory to be more involved in offense?

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 12:22:29 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory was given fewer carries last year to limit the chances of getting injured. The Jets have a new coaching staff this year, however, and Ivory has been used more this offseason, particularly in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to imagine Ivory being too much more involved in the passing game as he's not the best pass-catching running back in league. Ivory's specialty is to ground and pound. Plus, the Jets have plenty of other running backs to use as receivers. If Ivory can stay healthy again this season, he should end up in RB2 territory.

Jets | Brandon Marshall closer to the end

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 05:50:10 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall posted on his Twitter page that the Jets are his last team.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is signed through the 2017, which would put him at age 33. He has shown signs of wear, but he's still a very good WR2.

Jets | Quinton Coples showing versatility

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 20:34:44 -0700

New York Jets LB Quinton Coples has been improving under head coach Todd Bowles. "He plays with very good violence," outside linebackers coach Mark Collins said. "He can set the edge in the run. He can finish plays in the run game. He can push the pocket. He can affect the quarterback. It doesn't mean he's always going to sack the quarterback, but he can affect the quarterback. I definitely think his arrow is pointing up."

Jets | Chris Ivory sees time at WR

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 09:14:11 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory lined up at wide receiver at times this offseason when the team worked out of a spread formation.

Fantasy Tip: The team likely is looking for ways to have Ivory on the field more often, and he could be more involved in the passing game. Ivory is expected to be part of a committee at running back this season and could be a middle-round option if he receives most of the carries.

Jets | Quinton Coples to rush more

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 06:56:36 -0700

New York Jets OLB Quinton Coples is expected to be used in blitz packages a lot more in 2015. "Obviously, for him, you want him rushing the passer more than you want him dropping into coverage," outside linebackers coach Mark Collins. "But in the same sense, we're demanding, and we want him to be able to do both."

Jets | Chris Ivory's workload has been limited

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 05:45:32 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory's workload was limited by the former Jets coaching staff because they were worried about him getting injured. Ivory has also struggled in pass blocking.

Fantasy Tip: During the spring, the Jets used Ivory in spread formations a lot. He lined up some as a wide receiver. If this continues, it's great for his PPR value. He'll have to contend with Stevan Ridley, Bilal Powell and Zac Stacy for carries, though. Ivory is a solid RB2 in fantasy.

Jets | Demario Davis to remain active

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 07:12:34 -0700

New York Jets LB Demario Davis is expected to be a huge presence at middle linebacker in head coach Todd Bowles' defense. He has the versatility to move outside, but he struggled in coverage, allowing four touchdowns last season. He's an underrated pass rusher, and he's entering a contract season.
