Phillips was recently given the green light to start jogging in the pool. However, with training camp five months away, doctors have told him not to rush. He won't run until March 29, exactly six months after the operation. In the meantime, Phillips rides a stationary bike, does leg presses and walks forward and backward on the treadmill. Giants | Taylor claimed off waivers The New York Giants have announced they have claimed free-agent OT Herb Taylor (Broncos) off waivers. Giants | Jacobs will be ready for offseason workouts Mike Garafolo, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (knee) said he will be ready for the team's offseason workouts. Jacobs will be able to run and work out in the near future. He does not think his knee injury will be a lingering issue after undergoing surgery. Umenyiora said, "It's not just talk. I think obviously I believe I can help the New York Giants win." Umenyiora added, "But just sitting down on the bench, coming in on third downs, I can't help them win at all. I'm not able to make an impact. I just won't be able to do that for a whole season." During an appearance on Sirius XM's Mad Dog Radio Thursday, Jan. 14, Bettis said Cowher would have gotten the Giants' job in 2008 if Giants head coach Tom Coughlin hadn't won Super Bowl XLII.
