Updating a previous item, New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul received the non-exclusive franchise tag Monday, March 2, meaning he'll be free to sign an offer sheet from another team, but the Giants would receive two first-round picks if they choose not to match it. The two sides will continue to work on a long-term deal, but the Giants are fine with letting Pierre-Paul play in 2015 for the $14.813 million franchise tag number. Pierre-Paul had 12.5 sacks last year, but the Giants are still very wary about his injury history.

New York Giants LB Jon Beason is due a $1 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the new league year, which is March 15. He is set to count $7.37 million against the salary cap in 2015. The Giants are trying to decide if he is worth keeping, and Beason is open to possibly re-working his deal. "You're going to do what is best for you and you try to work with the team and do what is best for the team," Beason said after the season. "I know when it comes down to it, (assistant general manager Kevin Abrams) and I and (general manager Jerry Reese) will make it happen."

New York Giants CB Prince Amukamara will likely not get a contract extension this offseason. Amukamara is playing on a fifth-year option, and general manager Jerry Reese does not see the need to award an extension this offseason to gain cap relief.

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle appears to have the commitment from the team heading into next season after being benched twice in 2014. However, general manager Jerry Reese left open the possibility that the team could draft another receiver this year. "I think Rueben gets banged on a lot. Sometimes he should get banged on, but I think he gets banged on sometimes a little too much," Reese said. "I think he is a good, young player and all he needs are some chances. With Odell and Victor, I think he will get plenty of chances." WRs Preston Parker, Corey Washington or Marcus Harris could be backup plans if Randle doesn't pan out.
Fantasy Tip: Randle will have his work cut out for him in retaining the No. 3 receiving job behind Victor Cruz and rookie sensation Odell Beckham Jr. Keep an eye on Randle's health and progress in training camp. If he sticks in the No. 3 spot, he could be a solid option as a WR4 or 5 to round out your receiving depth.
