Fantasy Tip: Jennings in not expected to play in Week 4, but owners should continue to monitor the situation. He would be a risky option if he plays and could be kept on the bench since he probably would be limited. Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey would share work if Jennings is ruled out. Darkwa likely would receive most of the carries and could be flex option in some leagues.

Fantasy Tip: The indication is that Jennings is more doubtful than questionable for Week 4, so it may be mainly Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey in New York's backfield this week. Unfortunately, they're up against one of the toughest run defenses in the league in the Minnesota Vikings, who haven't yet given up a rushing touchdown to running backs. It's best to keep Darkwa and Rainey out of starting lineups.

Fantasy Tip: Rainey is likely to see the field in the passing situations. He didn't have a carry last week but caught a 24-yard pass. The matchup is against a tough Minnesota Vikings defense, and his usage makes him a risky flex play.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa rushed 10 times for 53 yards and a score last week. He should see the majority of carries between the tackles, but he faces a stout Minnesota Vikings defense. He's a flex option this week in fantasy.

Fantasy Tip: Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey figure to split the load against a tough Minnesota Vikings defense. Darkwa rushed 10 times for 53 yards and a score last week. Rainey only had a 24-yard reception and should see time in the passing downs. Neither are a strong play because of the matchup, but Darkwa has the edge as a flex play.

New York Giants CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin) said there is no tear in his groin and believes there is a chance he will be able to play in Week 4. He has already been able to do some light running this week.

Fantasy Tip: As has previously been stated, Bobby Rainey and Orleans Darkwa should see increased roles with Vereen sidelined, with Rashad Jennings maintaining his starting role as long as he's healthy. Paul Perkins could even start to manage a few touches per game, but his fantasy value is still minimal. Rainey is the better bet in PPR formats and should be claimed off waivers, especially by those who have Vereen on their roster.

New York Giants RB Paul Perkins is among the candidates who will be asked to fill the void left behind by the absence of Shane Vereen (triceps) after the team's leading rusher suffered a triceps injury in Week 3 that is expected to sideline him at least two months. Head coach Ben McAdoo stated a committee will replace Vereen and that Perkins is "ready to step up".
Fantasy Tip: Perkins is arguably the most talented player in the Giants' backfield and was labeled a "three-down back" by the Giants' administration shortly after they drafted him this spring. Rashad Jennings is expected back in Week 4 and will likely cede some work to Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey, but the fifth-round rookie should be added to watch lists now at the very least. He is certainly capable of overtaking Jennings at some point later in the season and appears to be the team's back of the future.

New York Giants CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin) played only 32 of 71 snaps against the Washington Redskins in Week 3 before leaving with a strained groin and will likely be out a few weeks. Rookie CB Eli Apple (hamstring) and S Darian Thompson (foot) are also unlikely to suit up in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB Shane Vereen (triceps) is expected to take two months to recover from triceps surgery, according to sources. He could be placed on the Reserve/Injured list and then come off later.
Fantasy Tip: Vereen will still miss several weeks assuming he does go through with the surgery. Rashad Jennings, Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey will all see upticks in their workloads, but Rainey seems like the favorite to take over pass-catching duties out of the backfield. He is a top waiver wire consideration this week, especially for those who own Vereen.

Fantasy Tip: Given the Giants are less than 24 hours out from declaring their starting running back out, this optimism may be more a product of their urgency than any real progress after the team lost Shane Vereen for the season on Monday. Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey figure to share touches should Jennings not be able to go, but neither player can be considered more than a desperation flex play against a very good defense.

Fantasy Tip: Vereen turned 13 touches into 95 yards and a touchdown and was still in the game on the Giants' final offensive play in Week 3, so it is unclear when he suffered the injury. His loss stings a team that was already missing Rashad Jennings due to a thumb injury. Rookie Paul Perkins is the player that should slide into Vereen's role, but it appears New York doesn't believe he is ready yet. If Jennings is out again Week 4, expect Orleans Darkwa to get the start and Bobby Rainey to absorb Vereen's complementary role.
