Giants | Sterling Shepard scores in Week 3

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 04:32:20 -0700

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard caught a 23-yard touchdown and had five receptions for 73 yards in a 29-27 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: The rookie was part of a strong combo that included Odell Beckham (121 yards) and Victor Cruz (70 yards). Because QB Eli Manning has so many options, you may want to hold off to see how much Shepard will be used, but right now he looks like a decent option for either your bench or a lower receiver spot.

Giants | Shane Vereen scores rushing TD

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 04:28:09 -0700

New York Giants RB Shane Vereen had 11 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown in a 29-27 loss to the Washington Redskins Sunday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: The problem with using Vereen on a regular basis is it looks like the Giants may have a RB by committee approach. Orleans Darkwa had a touchdown as well and ran for 53 yards. Stay away for the moment until the Giants sort out who will carry the ball the most.

Giants | Eli Manning has rough spots in Week 3

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 04:17:42 -0700

New York Giants QB Eli Manning threw one touchdown and passed for 350 yards but also had two interceptions Sunday, Sept. 25, in a 29-27 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: Manning did complete two-thirds of his passes but obviously the interceptions hurt this week. Manning is still a solid option but beware going in that he will have games like these.

Giants | Rashad Jennings expected back in Week 4

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 17:36:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) said Sunday, Sept. 25, that he understood head coach Ben McAdoo's decision to keep him out. He said his thumb feels better and he is hopeful of returning in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: With Jennings sidelined it was Orleans Darkwa shouldering the load in the backfield for Big Blue. If Jennings is forced to miss more time Darkwa is worth a look in some deeper fantasy formats and DFS leagues.

Giants | Rashad Jennings ruled out

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 09:28:51 -0700

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 3 game.

Fantasy Tip: Shane Vereen and Orleans Darkwa should share playing time at running back this week with Vereen likely to be the starter at the position. Vereen likely will have more value in fantasy leagues and can be a decent flex option for owners. Darkwa probably should only be an option for desperate owners in deeper leagues.

Giants | Rashad Jennings unlikely to play

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 06:14:09 -0700

Contrary to a previous report, New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is not expected to be active for Week 3's game against the Washington Redskins. RB Shane Vereen is expected to see the bulk of the snaps in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Vereen is averaging four yards per carry and has caught six passes for 47 yards through the first two games this season. He merits consideration as a flex option in most fantasy formats.

Giants | Rashad Jennings likely to play Week 3

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 09:18:02 -0700

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (hand) is continuing to work through his sprained left thumb and done enough to make offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan believe he'll be able to play through the injury in Week 3 versus the Washington Redskins. "It's something that's not natural. He's used to doing that without the cast. … It's definitely an adjustment that we have great confidence he'll be able to make," Sullivan said.

Fantasy Tip: Sullivan did not reveal whether the injury played a role in Jennings' meager workload in Week 3 (13 carries for 27 yards). Shane Vereen (14 carries, 42 yards) was marginally better and even saw some work at the goal line, but he isn't the answer. Neither Jennings nor Vereen can considered anything better than flex plays in Week 3.

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 08:47:29 -0700
