Giants | Victor Cruz expects to be ready for camp

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 05:39:13 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) said he will be ready to participate once training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz has dealt with injuries over the last two seasons but should have a decent role in the passing game if he is healthy. Owners probably should consider Cruz in the late rounds of drafts this season.

Giants | Eli Apple may not see much time early

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 16:16:07 -0700

New York Giants CB Eli Apple may not receive significant playing time early in the season because CBs Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins will be the starting cornerbacks, and the nickel back job does not appear be a natural fit for Apple.

Giants | Rashad Jennings says he's entering prime

Wed, 13 Jul 2016 08:25:19 -0700

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings said at 31 he thinks he's just now entering his prime.

"There's a difference between being an NFL player and being a pro," Jennings said. "Being an NFL player is a guy that comes into the league, has some talent, plays a little bit. But a pro really understands how to take care of his body, how to play the X's and O's, play the game before it happens. I've just been allowing my maturity to catch up with my age at the same time. I'm excited. As I get into my latter years, I'm getting into my prime."

Fantasy Tip: Jennings has never had 200 carries, and he entered the league later than average backs at 24. He's coming off a solid season where he averaged 4.4 yards per carry and had a 195-863-3 line rushing and a 29-296-1 line receiving. He'll be a high-end RB3 whose age could undervalue him in drafts.

Giants | Dwayne Harris to see less time on offense

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 15:46:42 -0700

New York Giants WR Dwayne Harris is expected to see less time as a receiver in 2016 because the team wants him to conserve his energy for the return game. He will be the team's kick and punt returner this season.

Giants | Darian Thompson already impressing

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 12:38:52 -0700

New York Giants FS Darian Thompson was one of the most impressive players during the Giants' offseason program. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo specifically liked the fact that Thompson wasn't afraid to make a mistake against veteran starters. Thompson could start opposite SS Landon Collins this season.

Giants | Solid workload for Rashad Jennings?

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 12:31:09 -0700

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings could see around 15 to 18 carries per game in 2016, according to John Schmeelk of giants.com. Jennings will still be the Giants' primary running back, with RB Shane Vereen serving as the third-down back.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings has been underrated so far this year for a starting running back. He did leave something to be desired, but Jennings still deserves RB3 consideration after amassing nearly 1,200 total yards and four total touchdowns.

Giants | Will Tye 'wonderful' during offseason

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 12:19:31 -0700

New York Giants TE Will Tye "caught everything" that came in his direction and "showed remarkable consistency for a second-year player" during organized training activities and minicamps, according to Giants.com's John Schmeelk.

Fantasy Tip: Tye caught 32 passes for 368 yards and three scores over his final seven games as an undrafted rookie free agent last year, emerging as a quality option after Larry Donnell was lost for the season. The two player figure to battle it out for the starting job during the preseason, and the winner stands to be a low-cost, low-end TE1 in 12-team (or deeper) leagues.

Giants | Two expected to fight for Giants' TE job

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 13:16:14 -0700

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell and TE Will Tye are expected to compete for the starting tight end job during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Donnell has more experience than Tye and may be more of an offensive threat, but Tye appears to be a more well-rounded tight end. Donnell would be a No. 2 tight end for fantasy owners if he wins the job but his value mostly depends on his touchdowns. Tye probably would only be a low-end No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues.

Giants | Eli Manning expects more points

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 13:35:53 -0700

New York Giants QB Eli Manning said he expects to offense to score more points in 2016 and believes they will be able to score at least 28 points per game. Manning believes the addition of WR Sterling Shepard and the return of WR Victor Cruz and TE Larry Donnell will help the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is coming off a solid 2015 season where he threw for 4,436 yards and 35 touchdowns in 16 games. He has thrown for at least 4,000 in five of their last seven seasons but still struggles with interceptions. Manning should be a solid No. 1 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa playing catch-up

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 19:21:53 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (leg) missed the entire spring practice sessions due to a lower leg injury, and that set him back in the pecking order among the team's tailbacks. He is expected to battle RB Andre Williams for the No. 3 job, while RB Bobby Rainey is also in the mix. The team invested a fifth round pick on RB Paul Perkins, so he is expected to make the team, too.

Fantasy Tip: The winner of the No. 3 job will be behind Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen on the depth chart, so they can mostly be avoided in all fantasy leagues initially.

Giants | Andre Williams fighting for spot?

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 13:35:03 -0700

New York Giants RBs Andre Williams and Orleans Darkwa are likely competing with each other for a roster spot, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

Fantasy Tip: Williams hasn't played to his full potential in his first two seasons, but he did have a solid rookie campaign two years ago. Darkwa hasn't really done much in New York, and he may be the odd man out. Williams is the more intriguing fantasy option, but even he should be viewed as a late-round flier.

Giants | Sterling Shepard to provide instant impact

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 13:12:38 -0700

New York Giants rookie WR Sterling Shepard appears to be an "instant-impact player" and was one of the receivers to impress the team during the spring. WR Darius Powe and WR Roger Lewis - a pair of undrafted rookie free agents from California and Bowling Green, respectively - have also caught the coaching staff's eye as well.

Fantasy Tip: With Victor Cruz still a question mark and Rueben Randle no longer on the roster, there is a boatload of potential targets for the taking in New York opposite Odell Beckham Jr. Shepard possesses a 41-inch vertical jump to go along with perhaps the best combination of route-running chops and hands in this draft class. Assuming he lands the starting job as expected, Shepard is a good bet to perform at a WR3 level this season.
