The New Orleans Saints believe TE Coby Fleener will be a bigger part of the offense in 2017 because he will be more comfortable with the offensive scheme and will continue to build a chemistry with QB Drew Brees.
Fantasy Tip: Fleener finished this season with 60 catches, 631 yards and three touchdowns. He will have a role in the passing game but will have to share targets with the team's top three receivers. Owners in most fantasy leagues should consider Fleener as a No. 2 tight end.

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas posted the second-most receptions of any rookie receiver in NFL history this past season. He logged 92 catches, finishing only behind Detroit Lions WR Anquan Boldin, who recorded 101 receptions in his debut year back in 2003 with the Arizona Cardinals.
Fantasy Tip: Taken in the middle of the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Thomas easily smashed all expectations bestowed upon him, as he also compiled 1,137 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his freshman campaign. There's no reason he should slow down in his second year, as the Saints still lean on one of the game's best quarterbacks in Drew Brees, and with their high-powered offense, Thomas is a good bet to at least post a second straight 1,000-yard season.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks has posted at least 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons and has 17 touchdowns during that span. Cooks will continue to be the top receiving option for the Saints and should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver for fantasy owners in 2017.

New Orleans Saints FS Jairus Byrd will likely have to take a pay cut to remain with the Saints in 2017, in the opinion of beat writer Mike Triplett. He has a $7.8 million salary with an $11.2 million salary cap hit.

Fantasy Tip: The 34-year-old veteran had four rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown while suiting up for all 16 games last season but only posted 37 rushing yards and 70 receiving yards. Like most fullbacks around the league, he has a tendency to occasionally vulture a TD but possesses little fantasy value.

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said that Clemson QB Deshaun Watson "appears to have all those things that we're looking for" and believes there's "something special about him." According to Payton, the Saints haven't seen "any signs" of a potential decline for current starting QB Drew Brees, but acknowledged a transition will eventually have to come, and that "the transaction may take place, not in the same year (Brees) is being replaced."

Fantasy Tip: Kuhn has been a fan favorite wherever he is played and usually ends vulturing a few touchdowns each season. He scored five times on 34 touches in his first season as a Saint in 2016 and will probably play a similar role next season. Like most of today's fullbacks, however, he has no fantasy value.

Fantasy Tip: Brees had a fantastic statistical season in 2016. He completed 70 percent of his passes for 5,208 yards, 37 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. While he's seldom mentioned in the top three fantasy quarterbacks, a case could be made that he's not far from there with consistency and durability.
