New Orleans Saints CB P.J. Williams is farther along in his progress than the Saints expected, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton said Williams is in good shape and has had a good offseason so far. Williams is slated to be a top contender for a starting cornerback position.

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has remained focus this offseason despite a potential future contract extension. Brees is able to keep his focus with whatever situation he is in, according to head coach Sean Payton. As was reported earlier, Brees and his representatives will not negotiate a contract during the 2016 season.
Fantasy Tip: Extension or no extension, Brees is still one of the most reliable real-life and fantasy quarterbacks, as he has been for several years now. He's in mid-QB1 territory for fantasy drafts this offseason.

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead could take a big step forward this season with his experience and comfort level in the offense, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton said Snead has great attention to detail, he trains well, he's smart and he has a good knack for finding holes in zone coverage.
Fantasy Tip: Snead really stepped up last year and barely missed 1,000 yards. If he can maintain his status as the Saints' No. 2 wide receiver and improve on last year's numbers, then he can achieve WR3 status in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: If Thomas can consistently catch the ball then he could be a bigger factor than people realize, especially with his size. He probably won't be thrown to as much as Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead and Coby Fleener, but he could take away some big plays and red-zone targets from Brandon Coleman. View Thomas as a WR5 with a WR4 ceiling.

New Orleans Saints TE Coby Fleener will be used as a receiver first and will hopefully help in third-down and red-zone situations, according to head coach Sean Payton, much like the way Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham was used when he played for the Saints.
Fantasy Tip: The price may be high for Fleener this offseason as the excitement builds with him in one of the most pass-happy offenses in the NFL. Fleener is definitely in the TE1 conversation heading into next season, but don't draft him too early.

New Orleans Saints LB James Laurinaitis is already at the point where he can help other players with alignment. He picks things up extremely well, is a quick learner, has great confidence and has good instincts, according to head coach Sean Payton. Laurinaitis is expected to start at middle linebacker for the Saints in his first season in New Orleans.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas will still play behind Cooks, Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman for now, although he eventually could compete with Coleman for the No. 3 wide receiver spot. As it stands, Thomas is a WR4 consideration.

New Orleans Saints LBs James Laurinaitis and Stephone Anthony both played the middle position for organized team activities Thursday, May 26. Still, Laurinaitis is expected to start at middle linebacker, while LB Stephone Anthony will likely start at strongside linebacker. LB Dannell Ellerbe will likely start as the weakside linebacker.

New Orleans Saints OT Senio Kelemete, OT Andrus Peat, OG Tim Lelito and possibly OT Zach Strief are expected to be the primary competitors for the starting right guard position this offseason, although Peat could also start at right tackle, as stated earlier. Kelemete played right guard with the first-team offense at organized team activities Thursday, May 26, but others contenders are expected to be mixed in with the first team throughout the offseason.

New Orleans Saints OT Andrus Peat will start in 2016, according to head coach Sean Payton, although it's not clear at this point if he'll start at tackle or guard. Peat practiced for all of the first-team repetitions at right guard during organized team activities Thursday, May 26. He then moved to right tackle when the second-team offense practiced. He started at both right guard and right tackle last season, but he was not a regular starter like he is expected to be this season.

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller's (knee) health and movement skills are noticeably different so far this offseason, according to head coach Sean Payton. "He worked his butt off in the offseason to get the strength back in that leg he [injured]," Payton said. "That's been real encouraging."
Fantasy Tip: Poor health nagged Spiller all of last season, resulting in a disappointing inaugural campaign with the Saints. Looking better is encouraging, but he still has some proving and rebounding to do. Draft him as no more than a low-end RB4 in PPR leagues.

New Orleans Saints FS Jairus Byrd (knee) was out of practice Thursday, May 26, and working on the side with trainers. He is rehabbing the same knee that has bothered him the last two years and should be ready for training camp.
Thu, 26 May 2016 10:46:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The odds are it's a minor ailment that shouldn't affect his draft stock. He had a decent 84-1,138-9 season last year. He's a solid WR2, and entering that pivotal third year, he has upside.
