Fantasy Tip: Ingram's stock would take a hit, but he will remain the Saints' most appealing fantasy running back if the Peterson signing does come to fruition. As stated earlier, Ingram and Peterson should be viewed as an RB2 and RB3, respectively, if they are both healthy and if Peterson signs.

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) is coming close to a deal with the New Orleans Saints that would pay him $3 million this year, according to sources. The deal is not done, but it is looking optimistic.
Fantasy Tip: This move would definitely put a damper on Mark Ingram's fantasy value. Ingram has RB1 upside, but the addition of Peterson would put him into RB2 territory at least, although, Ingram could be used in more of a pass-catching role in this case. He has shown receiving prowess in previous seasons (96 catches the last two seasons). As for Peterson, he would be no more than an RB3 candidate at 32 years old and after missing nearly two full seasons in the last three years.

New England Patriots restricted free-agent CB Malcolm Butler appears unlikely to be traded to the New Orleans Saints, who are leaning towards keeping their draft picks on top of having to sign Butler to a long-term deal.

New England Patriots CB Malcolm Butler is either going to get traded to the New Orleans Saints this week or probably not at all, according to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss, who believes a deal will essentially come down to whether the Saints are willing to trade their late first-round pick (No. 32) or a different package of a high second-rounder (No. 42) combined with another pick.

New Orleans Saints CB P.J. Williams (concussion) is good to go after being on the Reserve/Injured list last season with a concussion. TE Josh Hill (fibula) is a limited participant in OTAs as he continues to recover from a broken fibula. TE Michael Hoomanawanui (ankle) is fully recovered from a high-ankle ailment last season, while S Erik Harris (knee) is expected to be a full participant in training camp after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament last year.

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead participated in organized team activities Monday, April 17, despite not yet signing his exclusive rights tender. Snead is not permitted to sign with any other team as the Saints did offer him the required one-year tender worth $615,000.
Fantasy Tip: Snead took somewhat of a backseat to Brandin Cooks and Michael Thomas last year, but he may be called on more in 2017 with Cooks gone. Snead has quietly produced just under 1,900 yards in his two season with the Saints. He's an under-the-radar flex consideration in standard leagues.

Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey has "the ability to make people miss, but also to make tough yards in the pile," according to New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton. "I've got a crystal-clear vision of the player. He'd be like Darren Sproles, Reggie Bush for us, kind of the Joker role (versatile back). But I think you have to have a pitch count on him," Payton told The MMQB.
Fantasy Tip: Most of the league seems to see McCaffrey in a similar fashion and the Saints could theoretically be in a good spot to take him at No. 11 overall, but their focus all offseason has been improving defensively. The all-purpose dynamo is expected to come off the board in the top half of the first round, with the Carolina Panthers (No. 8) and Philadelphia Eagles (No. 14) among the teams linked to him the most.

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) reportedly had a good visit with the New Orleans Saints earlier this week. Although he left without a deal, the door isn't closed on something happening down the line, according to the New Orleans Advocate's Nick Underhill.
Fantasy Tip: Underhill reports it is unclear whether the two sides talked money and warns Peterson may have to accept the same $3.7 million Mark Ingram is set to make in 2017 in order to sign in New Orleans. Furthermore, Underhill believes Peterson would begin the season as Ingram's backup. Look for AP's market to pick up a bit after the draft is over at the end of this month, but it is becoming increasingly likely his days of being a fantasy force are over.
