Sun, 07 Feb 2016 11:43:00 -0800

New England Patriots DE Chandler Jones might be in line for a contract extension as he enters the final year of his current deal. Philadelphia Eagles DE Vinny Curry recently signed a five-year, $47.25 million extension, which could be in the same range as a possible Jones extension.

Patriots | Matt Forte of interest to Pats?

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 11:21:43 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent RB Matt Forte could be pursued by the New England Patriots this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots may lose both LeGarrette Blount and Steven Jackson in free agency this year. New England loves pass-catching running backs, but they've already got a couple in Dion Lewis and James White. Of course, Forte is at another level than Lewis and White, so the Patriots could still be interested. Forte will probably be a RB1 wherever he is, but there aren't many better places for his fantasy value than New England.

Patriots | Stevan Ridley unlikely to rejoin Pats

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 11:54:09 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Stevan Ridley is not expected to be pursued by the New England Patriots, his former team. The Patriots will likely look to add depth at running back this offseason, and Ridley is entering free agency, but New England is expected to look elsewhere.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots let Ridley go for a reason, and they probably haven't changed their minds in such a short amount of time, especially after Ridley hardly saw the field last season due to injury. For now, Ridley remains a non-factor in the fantasy football realm.

Patriots | No surgery for Rob Gronkowski

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 13:07:07 -0800

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) did not require surgery on his knee or back, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The injuries didn't seem to impact Gronk too badly, at least in the playoffs. He should be fine for offseason activities since there's no surgery to recover from. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks or new ailments over the next few months, he'll be the top fantasy tight end to target next season.

Sun, 31 Jan 2016 12:28:30 -0800

Patriots | Danny Amendola release not expected

Sun, 31 Jan 2016 12:21:06 -0800

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola is not expected to be released this offseason despite a $6.8 million salary cap hit he would cause. Releasing Amendola would save the Patriots $3.5 million against the salary cap.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots seem more likely to cut ties with Jerod Mayo in order to save some money as opposed to cutting Amendola. Amendola did have his best season as a Patriot in New England and stayed relatively healthy, which would make cutting him even harder. If he stays, he would likely be the Patriots' No. 2 wide receiver behind Julian Edelman.

Patriots | LeGarrette Blount will not require surgery

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 11:45:01 -0800

New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount (hip) will not need surgery on his season-ending hip injury, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Blount was lost for the season in Week 14 and placed on the Reserved/Injured List shortly thereafter. The 29-year-old, who led the Patriots in rushing with 703 yards and six touchdowns last season, will be an unrestricted free agent following the season. If New England chooses to bring him back, he should return as the early-down complement to Dion Lewis next season.
