Thomas said he had a confusing meeting with Belichick about his overall game and if it was sufficient enough. "I knew at that point it was bigger than what was on the surface. It was something bigger than that. You guys watch the games. I was used totally differently this year than I was last year before I broke my arm. Even before I came back, I was told that I was going to be used differently," Thomas said. He indicated that he does not want to return to the team next season.

ESPNBoston.com reports New England Patriots WR Wes Welker (knee) underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left knee Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Massachusetts General Hospital, according to published reports. According to the Boston Herald, team doctor Thomas Gill performed the surgery. The Boston Globe quoted a person with knowledge of the surgery as saying that Welker was "perfectly OK" following the surgery.
