Fantasy Tip: Looking ahead to Sunday, Blount ($7,777; 15.5% of your cap) is a risky pick on FantasyScore when Marshawn Lynch is the same price. It's very possible the Pats use Blount to wear down the Seattle Seahawks defense. However, we'd much rather have Lynch at an equal price.

Fantasy Tip: Brady will play against the Seahawks, but you might be better off going with Russell Wilson in FantasyScore when choosing a starting signal caller. Brady faces a much more difficult matchup against the Legion of Boom. Of course, he also has a better corps of receivers, including Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski.

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo has been impressing in his mimicking of Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson in practice. He has been studying the dual threat quarterback, and trying his best in practice to get the Patriots ready for Super Bowl XLIX. "I've had to get a lot faster real fast," Garoppolo said. "He's an athletic guy, so (I am) trying to extend plays and give those guys the best looks I can. It's a tough balance between studying their offense and studying our defense, so it's a little bit of time management."
Fantasy Tip: Garoppolo likely won't see a snap in the Super Bowl, unless disaster strikes the Patriots, so he has no value in FantasyScore. However, he is trying to get his defense ready, and if his work is as good as advertised, it could mean less value for Russell Wilson.

Fantasy Tip: Brady is also battling a cold, but he'll be just fine for Super Bowl Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. He should be a solid play at FantasyScore for $7,777 (15.55% of cap).

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels defended the usage of ineligible receivers when questioned about the tactic during Super Bowl XLIX media availability Wednesday, Jan. 28. McDaniels specifically cleared up that the Patriots huddled before plays in which they used ineligible receivers. Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called the Patriots' strategy "within the rules" and "great ball" during media week.

New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount didn't orchestrate his release from the Pittsburgh Steelers. "You know things didn't work out as planned … So we decided to part ways. I ended up here and now I'm about to play in the Super Bowl," Blount said Tuesday, Jan. 27.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (illness) admitted that he is currently battling a cold, but he said he expects to be 100% ready for the Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1. "I've had it for four to five days, my kids got sick and my wife's pretty sick right now," Brady said. "I brought it, unfortunately, to Phoenix, but I'll be fine. I'll be good." Brady is focused on rest and eating plenty of garlic, which he said is one of his "old remedies."
Fantasy Tip: Brady ($7,777, 15.55% of cap) will be fine for the big game, and this shouldn't influence your decision to select him for your FantasyScore lineup this Sunday.

New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount should be a factor in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Feb. 1, in the opinion of Boston Herald writer Karen Guregian. Despite Seattle's highly ranked run defense, they lost games earlier this season to both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys, who used run-heavy game plans. The Green Bay Packers also had early success on the ground against the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game. The Packers opened up holes by overloading lanes with pulling linemen, which is something the Patriots like to do with their guards and tackles. If the Patriots stay away from the run, Seattle's linebackers will drop back in zone coverage, making it tougher on the Patriots' passing game.
Fantasy Tip: The Patriots ran the ball just 14 times against the top-ranked run defense of the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the playoffs, but using Blount on the ground against Seattle should help open the passing game against the Seahawks’ tough secondary. The run game could also be used to exploit injured FS Earl Thomas (shoulder).

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has publicly stated he'd like to play well into his 40s and feels perfect after playing his 15th season, but his father Tom Brady Sr. believes it won't end well with the Patriots. The younger Brady is under contract through 2017, although he'll turn 40 years old prior to that season. Brady has publicly said he plans on playing until he's 43 or 44. The 37-year-old quarterback is scheduled to make $12 million in 2015, $8 million in 2016 and $9 million in 2017. His father thinks his son's determination to keep playing won't go over well with the Patriots' brass. "It will end badly," Brady Sr. told New York Times Magazine. "It does end badly. And I know that because I know what Tommy wants to do. He wants to play 'til he's 70. ... It's a cold business. And for as much as you want it to be familial, it isn't."
Fantasy Tip: Even at 37, Brady didn’t show any signs of slowing down. While fantasy owners do assume some risk when drafting aging quarterbacks, Brady’s commitment to his well-being rule out some of that risk. He should be considered a midrange starting fantasy quarterback until he proves otherwise.

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman won't be avoided by the New England Patriots during the Super Bowl, according to Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. "It's not an easy thing to avoid him the whole game. We're going to try not to do that with anybody… I think you need to be sensitive to him and where he's at."

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Tuesday, Jan. 27, that he'd love to be a head coach in the NFL again. McDaniels was rumored to be a possible candidate for the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers head coaching positions, but has not heard from either team. The 49ers have already named their new head coach in Jim Tomsula and the Falcons are expected to hire Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to fill that position.
