New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) told reporters that he has "no setbacks" in his debut in Week 3 against the Houston Texans. He said he was sore, but he felt fine. "I felt good," he said Wednesday, Sept. 28. And he said he always feels sore after playing a game, "whether you play 10 plays or you play 70." He added the team is being careful with the injury, and hamstrings in particular can be tricky so you cannot "hop right in, and go 100 percent."
Fantasy Tip: Gronkowski has had a few extra days since last Thursday's game for treatment and to mend, so fantasy owners can expect a much bigger impact in Week 4. He has shredded Buffalo in the past, but there is uncertainty at the quarterback position in Foxboro, so Gronk might not start to hit his stride until Week 5 when Tom Brady is due back from suspension.

Fantasy Tip: Gronkowski went without a catch and received just one target in his 2016 debut last week, which burnt anyone eager to receive a return on their early-round investment. However, New England was in control of the game throughout, and there was little need to press Gronkowski into action. Tom Brady returns from suspension in Week 5, and Gronkowski projects to return to being an elite fantasy option then. This week, he is best viewed as a high-risk, high-reward commodity given the unknown surrounding his health and the quarterback situation.

Fantasy Tip: Brissett performed admirably for a third-string quarterback in Week 2 and 3. He did most of his fantasy damage with his legs and finished with 48 rushing yards and a score against the Houston Texans last week. With Tom Brady set to return from suspension in Week 5, Brissett isn't a viable long-term fantasy option, and especially since he isn't a lock to play this week. If Brissett does receive the start against Buffalo Sunday, Oct. 2, he checks out as a low-end QB2.

Fantasy Tip: Garoppolo was exceptional before suffering a shoulder injury in Week 2, and his status for Week 4 remains unknown. Tom Brady is eligible to return from suspension in Week 5, so Garoppolo's eyeing a one-week window to help fantasy players. However, given the uncertainty of his health, he's an ill-advised option to count on.

New England Patriots OT Marcus Cannon (calf), OG Jonathan Cooper (foot), LB Jonathan Freeny (shoulder), LB Dont'a Hightower (knee) and CB Eric Rowe (ankle) were limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower (knee) is making progress in his recovery from a knee injury but his status for Week 4 is uncertain at this point, according to a source. He has been participating in practice since last week.

Fantasy Tip: Brissett's status for Week 4 is uncertain at this point, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He would receive limited pass attempts if he plays this week and would not be the best option for owners.

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) was able to throw some passes during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, and also worked on pocket mobility. He did not favor his shoulder during stretching or when he threw the ball.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Garoppolo will have a chance to play in Week 4. He would be a risky option for owners if he plays because the team could limit his pass attempts. Owners probably should look for other options at quarterback this week.

Fantasy Tip: He should have a larger role in Week 4, but it might not be until Week 5 at Cleveland and with Tom Brady in tow that Gronk may be at full strength. He's a mid-to-low TE1 this week based on potential restrictions.

Fantasy Tip: Brissett is expected to be available for Week 4, and with the reports of Jimmy Garoppolo in pain and without mobility in his arm, Brissett could face the Buffalo Bills. He's a low-end bye week filler.

Fantasy Tip: There's a good chance Jacoby Brissett (thumb) is under center against the Buffalo Bills this week. He'd be a low-end filler for a bye week quarterback.

New England Patriots QBs Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) and Jacoby Brissett (thumb) have reportedly made enough progress in their recoveries from their respective injuries that the team is hopeful both will be available in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills.
Fantasy Tip: Garoppolo nearly played against the Houston Texans on a short week last week, so it seems likely he'll get the nod versus Buffalo. His return is key for owners, as pass-catchers such as Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski will have a chance to make some noise in fantasy with him under center. Garoppolo will be a high-end QB2 in this matchup before Tom Brady returns from his suspension in Week 5.

Free-agent QB T.J. Yates is a possible option for the New England Patriots in Week 4 if they feel that QBs Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) and Jacoby Brissett (thumb) won't be healthy enough to play, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss. The Patriots worked out Yates on Sept. 20.
Fantasy Tip: Despite the team's incredible 3-0 start, someone like Yates wouldn't move the needle for fantasy owners, though if anyone could squeeze a "W" out of that situation it'd have to be head coach Bill Belichick.
