Patriots | Tom Brady unbeaten vs. Falcons in career

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 21:12:26 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is 4-0 all-time against the Atlanta Falcons for his career. His last meeting opposite the Falcons came back in Week 4 of the 2013 season.

Fantasy Tip: It's a small sample size but it's also indicative of the type of winner and dominant player Brady truly is. Of course, this year's Falcons team is almost entirely different from any other Atlanta squad that he's faced throughout his career, but it really doesn't matter what defense you put in front of the future Hall-of-Famer.

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 10:57:32 -0800

Patriots | Dion Lewis a non-factor

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 19:22:33 -0800

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis rushed six times for 11 yards and caught two passes for eight yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Fantasy Tip: After a three-touchdown effort a week ago, Lewis was barely part of the game plan. The Patriots have him under contract in 2017; he's a sound PPR target as a weekly flex consideration.

Patriots | Martellus Bennett serviceable in win

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 19:12:02 -0800

New England Patriots TE Martellus Bennett (ankle) caught five passes for 32 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett has been playing with a cracked ankle bone and a hyperextended knee. He was more effective for the Pats than gamers. Bennett is in a contract year, so his playing location next year largely controls his fantasy potential.

Patriots | Chris Hogan throttles Steelers

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 19:05:22 -0800

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan caught nine passes for a game-high 180 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.

Fantasy Tip: Pittsburgh had no answer for Hogan in the first half, when he landed seven of his nine receptions and both TDs. The first-year Patriot carved up zone coverage and worked the screen game. He's a WR4 or No. 5 in 2017 fantasy drafts, possessing more worth in non-PPR setups.

Patriots | Tom Brady shines in AFC title game

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 18:51:05 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 32-for-42 passing for 384 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game. That was Brady's highest career postseason yardage figure.

Fantasy Tip: TB12 was simply brilliant. Unless he inexplicably retires after the season, Brady should be a midrange QB1 in all formats.

Patriots | Julian Edelman tops 100 yards

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 18:47:37 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman snared eight passes for 118 yards and a touchdown catch Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman was his typically dynamic self, and he is as productive as anyone when healthy. The upcoming draft season should find him placed somewhere in the neighborhood of being a WR2 in PPR and a third in standard scoring.

Patriots | LeGarrette Blount powers late in win

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 18:44:35 -0800

New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount rushed 16 times for 47 yards and one touchdown Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game. He added one catch for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: Blount has been masterful at finding the end zone this season, and -- assuming the to-be free agent returns to the Pats -- he'll be a viable RB3 in most formats for the 2017 fantasy campaign.

Patriots | Malcolm Mitchell active

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 14:16:42 -0800

New England Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee) is active for the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Mitchell is a risky DFS play this week, but with such a small player pool, consider him a flex.

Patriots | AFC Championship inactives for Pats

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 14:12:32 -0800

Patriots | Pats open to moving Jimmy Garoppolo

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 10:10:31 -0800

The New England Patriots will be willing to listen to trade offers for QB Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason and will be looking for at least a first-round pick in return. The Patriots will also have to make sure they are comfortable with QB Jacoby Brissett as their No. 2 quarterback before moving Garoppolo.

Fantasy Tip: Garoppolo likely will be a trade target for multiple teams this offseason, so owners will need to monitor the situation. He threw for 502 yards and four touchdowns in his limited playing time this season and likely will be a starting quarterback in 2017. He probably should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season no matter where he plays.
