Patriots | Tom Brady takes step forward

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 09:48:40 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) returned to practice Thursday, Jan. 18, after injuring his hand in practice Wednesday, Jan. 17. The swelling in Brady's hand doesn't appear to have worsened as he was practicing instead of receiving treatment. The extent of Brady's practice participation was not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: It's likely that Brady was a limited participant, but it's encouraging nonetheless that he was on the field after hurting the hand yesterday. Unless he suffers a severe setback or aggravation he will be playing in the AFC Championship and is easily this weekend's top daily fantasy quarterback option.

Patriots | Tom Brady 'should be OK' for Sunday

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 19:22:29 -0800

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's (hand) "hand should be OK," a source told Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. It could affect him "slightly" but the belief is that he should be good overall for the Conference Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Normally, when it comes to postseason affairs, Brady has been as reliable as can be throughout the history of the game, but going up against arguably the best defense in football at less than 100 percent could prove to be the ultimate challenge. Despite this, it's hard not to view him as the top QB1 option for DFS formats this weekend.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) underwent X-rays on his injured hand Wednesday, Jan. 17, but they did not show any structural damage, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Brady could be limited during practice for the rest of the week but should be ready to play in the AFC Championship game. He should be considered a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all leagues despite the tough matchup.

Patriots | Rex Burkhead limited Wednesday

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 13:37:28 -0800

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Burkhead was one of the most unsung free-agent signings last offseason. After eight total touchdowns and over 500 total yards, he'll be a quality low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 candidate in PPR leagues.

Patriots | Tom Brady has limited practice

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 13:32:51 -0800

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) was limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: As was stated earlier, barring an unforeseen, drastic setback, Brady will not miss the AFC Championship. Even at 41 years old at the start of the 2018 regular season, Brady will be a top-tier QB1.

Patriots | Tom Brady meets with medical staff

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 12:52:50 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (Achilles') missed his media session Wednesday, Jan. 17, because he was receiving treatment from the team's medical staff.

Fantasy Tip: Brady's ailments don't appear to be too serious. The odds of Brady missing the AFC Championship are about as good as Vince Wilfork besting John Ross in a foot race.

Patriots | Tom Brady cements another playoff record

Mon, 15 Jan 2018 23:08:08 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's three-touchdown performance in the team's Divisional Round victory Saturday, Jan. 13, against the Tennessee Titans was his 10th such performance in the postseason, breaking a tie with retired QB Joe Montana for most career playoff games with three or more passing touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, it'd be a surprise to find any sort of passing-related record in the playoffs that Brady doesn't hold. He's probably going to go down as the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game, and even at age 40, he's still the best going in the world today. Despite a tough matchup on tap versus Jacksonville's terrific defense, Brady figures to put up yet another useful stat line on Championship Sunday.

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) is expected to play in the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: The team has a number of injuries at the position, and Burkhead could slot in for some short-yardage work. He's a flex option in playoff formats.

Patriots | James White scores twice

Sat, 13 Jan 2018 21:51:25 -0800

New England Patriots RB James White rushed four times for 11 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 29 yards and a score in a 35-14 win over the Tennessee Titans Saturday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: White didn't score during the regular season, but he now has five touchdowns in his last two postseason games. Dion Lewis is the safest bet in New England's backfield, but if Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee remain sidelined next weekend, White could be a sneaky DFS play.

Patriots | Quiet game for Brandin Cooks

Sat, 13 Jan 2018 21:46:19 -0800

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks caught three passes on nine targets for 32 yards in a 35-14 win over the Tennessee Titans Saturday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Cooks' fantasy owners should be used to this. Playing in an offense that spreads the ball around, Cooks is going to remain prone to the occasional clunker.
